The match was a live Champions League game on Sky Sports 2 and after the live match within the same programme they showed highlights of some of the other Champions League matches taking place on the night. It was within the live programme and the guests live in the studio then commented on the game.

Maybe "Live" means something else in the game they were showing.
I don't understand sport. I feel alienated.

It's quite easy to understand if you read the post. Here's an example:
Programme: Champions League Football
Time (roughly) 7.30pm to 10.00pm
Live game: 7.45pm to 9.30pm
For the ENTIRE programme, Sky always carries a LIVE under its programme DOG, even if showing a piece of VT, doing studio analysis or showing a report from another match.
So yes, Sky show a LIVE dog over non-live action. Bit daft but I don't think anyone's ever let it bother them this much before. Thought people watched sport for the action, not the DOG.

I just don't understand.
Is it something to do with the offside rule?
