Watching something now on Sky Sports 2 saying Live under the DOG even though the programme looks like highlights from a recent football match.

Some sort of error, I presume?

not an error - the highlights are being shown within a 'live' programme.

Pardon me

The highlights shown, were showing during a programme which was being broadcast live on Sky Sports 2...

Say again, I didn't catch the explanation.

The match was a live Champions League game on Sky Sports 2 and after the live match within the same programme they showed highlights of some of the other Champions League matches taking place on the night. It was within the live programme and the guests live in the studio then commented on the game.

Sorry, I don't quite understand. Would I be right in thinking the live graphic was there because they were showing a recorded segment in a live programme? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Maybe "Live" means something else in the game they were showing.

I don't understand sport. I feel alienated.

It's quite easy to understand if you read the post. Here's an example:

Programme: Champions League Football
Time (roughly) 7.30pm to 10.00pm
Live game: 7.45pm to 9.30pm

For the ENTIRE programme, Sky always carries a LIVE under its programme DOG, even if showing a piece of VT, doing studio analysis or showing a report from another match.

So yes, Sky show a LIVE dog over non-live action. Bit daft but I don't think anyone's ever let it bother them this much before. Thought people watched sport for the action, not the DOG.

I just don't understand.

Is it something to do with the offside rule?

I doesn't normally bother me, but I don't feel there's been enough explanation in this thread.

So, to clarify: the live bug was there because even though they were showing a recorded segment, it was in a live programme?

Am I right? Would anyone care to explain?
