In Stuart's defence, this seems like a pretty fair assumption. I can't think of anyone I know these days who doesn't have a widescreen TV, at least for their main telly.

I don't, and I own four of them.

No, its an unqualified assumption there, I'm afraid.

Last night the new IPPs including DOGs for Sky's 1, 2 and 3 made an accidental appearance on Sky One HD coming out of the ad breaks in Road Wars. Assuming they will be positioned the same on the SD channels, the new DOGs will be outside the safe areas for both 4:3 and 14:9, the same position as the E4 DOG. They have two lines of text, which displayed as only "Text Line 1/2" on this occasion. I would post the pictures, but I'm on holiday at the moment and stuck with dial up Sad

It'll probably be inside the safe areas on the SD channels, since launch Sky One HD (all the other HD channels) have had the DOG right in the corner of the screen.

Are you a luddite though, Gav? I bet you don't even have any of them set to 4:3 letterbox format Confused

I suspect you are an atypical example. Wink

You know where you make those statements based on not enough information and too many assumptions?

You're doing it again.

I am not loose, I'm just very free with my love.

And I didn't lose either.

I don't have a widescreen tv either & oddly enough own four as well.

To be honest in our house we're waiting for one of them to break rather than do what alot of people do & throw out a perfectly good television.

I didn't think this warranted it's own thread, so i'll let it tag along with this one

Quite a good way to split the channel, really, seperating all the opera and ballet from the indie movies and classic rock.

One thing that article doesn't mention is that it also means Sky Arts HD will be changing from a simulcast to an all-HD "best of" channel.

I was just having a nostalgic look through my collection of Sky Entertainment channel idents (as you do), and have come to the conclusion that the current set (despite their apparent blandness) are actually very effective.

They are nice to see, the audio matches the visuals for both idents and promos, without compromise, and the corporate identity is maintained throughout the 3 channels. It's the best since 'tombstone 2', I believe. (That's when Elisabeth Murdoch got her digits on the channel and spoiled it! That's family for ya!)

I am rather gutted that they are dispensing with the logic behind the current idents. However, I understand the need to compete with Virgin1, GOLD, ITV2 and don't dislike the new idents to come in 10 days; but I will miss the current ones.
