Is Red Bee having problems sending a turn off signal to SKY + at the moment?

I've noticed on certain recordings recently, for example a recent 'Daily Politics', where the recording switched on, but never switched off, so when I've got home, I'm wondering what the hell is taping & when I switch on to check, it's been happily taping away all the stuff afterwards as well!

It also happened with last Thursday's BBC Four TOTP & one of tonight's Allo Allo on GOLD, where it continued taping Yes Prime Minister too!

I no longer record the Daily Politics but when I did, I often had a similar problem to the one you describe.

I'm ok on BBC Two, but I tried plussing it on Parly the once, as I missed it & as the Parly EPG never seems to be updated/amended live, so I missed half the programme!

(Annoying when you want to watch PMQ's at 730pm Wednesday & there's a live debate on!)

That's why I SKY Plus Brillo rather than Parly's version.

Mines is switching off to early! Time and time again if a program slightly overruns, I miss the end of it!

Is there such a thing? I know there was in the days of analogue and VHS but I'm pretty sure that Sky+ works via the EPG - when the programme finishes and disappears off the EPG the recording ends.

I'm sure that's the case - you can increase the buffer time, as I recall.

I know V+ has nothing like that, mine just seems to record at the time it was set to no matter how the timings change. I add 5 minutes to the end but that gets omitted if that recorder is needed for something else.

This is a particular problem for the 10pm programmes on BBC2, I've still not seen the very end of Weekly Wipe

The EPG is dynamically updated by many broadcaster (including the BBC) - though not sure the DVB mechanism used to signal start/end of programme.

Freeview+ uses EIT triggers (a standard bit of the DVB spec) which work a bit like PDC used to on analogue services.

Some broadcasters, like the BBC, trigger them from playout areas.

Hmm, this is an odd one. I was in Playout on Thursday night, there weren't any EPG trigger issues with BBC Four around TOTP, and I've not heard of any issues of this type in recent times (and between the broadcaster and the platforms quite a lot of monitoring of the EPG is done), so I'm inclined to think - personal opinion, not the opinion of my employers etc. etc. - that it might be an error with the box.

As Noggin says, we use reactive triggering on the network BBC channels so unless there's a last-second addition to the schedule, which can work a bit differently, the next programme triggers shortly before it is played out, ending the previous programme on the EPG.

Yep, because of how the platform works, the V+ doesn't get the "near real time" updates sent out to Freeview, Freesat and Sky boxes so it records to the billed programme times. I think the newer Tivo boxes might get them, I'm not sure.

I admit my box is old, but it works correctly otherwise.
