Both Stargate SG-1 and BTVS were premiered by Sky One in the UK.

Seriously there is no chance you'll see Lost Seasons 3 or 4 on any free to air service except Sky Three.

Unless of course you live in Northern Ireland, where you can see Season Three from Tuesday 31st October on RTE Two!

This may be the case, but the part of your post I disagreed with was that other channels would not be interested in Sky's "sloppy seconds". Doesn't bother me anyway as I have Sky.

It is easier for Sky to secure exclusive rights to 24 as that is/was a Fox programme, which is part of the same organisation. With Lost, ABC may prefer to sell second-showing rights to a different channel. Without knowing the specifics of the deal (unless you know different) you can't just assume that the deal is the same.

If you read the reports then you will know that Sky have exclusive UK rights to Lost, including secondary rights (i.e. FTA repeat) plus Mobile & Broadband.

Also don't forget that the US tv channels do not sell shows to the UK (except HBO). Lost is sold by Buena Vista, 24 by TCF, ER by Warners Bros, i.e. the production companies behind the shows.

Are people really still waiting for series to come out on UK TV, when they can be downloaded in real time with modern broadband connections (much faster if you have 2Mb+)? Only about 350MB for an almost broadcast-quality copy of the shows, which are out 2-3 hours after they broadcast in the US. HD->Xvid transfers are to all intents and purposes just as good as watching on DSAT/DTT.

OK, this doesn't apply with HD, but not many watching in HD anyway.

yep the copy comes from a HD channel, I then output it to a TV, the quality is excellent, I would say it is broadcast quality, the resolution is double that of ITV1!

RTÉ 2 is the first channel in Europe to show Lost.
