I would agree with that; C4 has a good mix. Not overstretching on a wide selection of original programming (as ITV do), rather they have a thoughtful mix of imported stuff, very good general entertainment and some excellent quality high-brow material. The BBC with ads in effect -- only they often do it better than the Beeb.

CH4 might get it Back in 2008 as sky only pay £40 million for 2 serivs of Lost so there might No5 back?

I got sick of Lost when I read how many season they intended to strech it out for.

I woulndn't mind so much, but I get the sense that even the writers don't quite know what the "secret" of the story is, and will decide that at some later date.

Truly a case of milking the story dry.

I'm done with it.

If it ever makes it to Season 5, you mean? But you might be right. Sky One 'poached' Friends off Channel 4 and had it for a few seasons before Channel 4 got it back.

And I thought Sky paid £20 Million for both series, not each, which was apparently five times more than what Channel 4 originally paid.

If it was each then that's an even more obscene amount of money.

But there won't be an audience for season 5.

After two years on Sky the "Lost" audience would have shrunk massively (just like 24).

It will do well for Sky, but excellent ratings on Sky One, are embarassingly poor ratings on Channel 4.

They won't want it back now.

Talking of the C4 schedule, Rory Bremner was sticking his neck out on the Paul O'Grady show about his show being in a "graveyard slot" up against The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing and how he'd prefer it to air on Sundays again.

Got to agree with him - haven't watched it at all since it move to Saturdays, but saw it most weeks when it aired on Sundays at 8pm.

And considering only "100 Greatest" reruns airs on Sundays, they haven't got anything better to show!

I'd argue that there's a massive difference between comedy and drama.

If you're into Lost you really can just miss an episode of it, nevermind two series.

Terrestrial viewers who don't buy the DVD boxsets for seasons 3 and 4 would have a) forgot the plot of lost by 2009 and b) not really care enough to get back into it.

Whereas Friends is a comedy that you really dip into and out of - hence the success of the random repeats on E4 (and previously Sky One)...you couldn't just play random episodes of a drama (particularly lost) and get an audience.

Channel 4 definitely won't be interested in getting Lost back for Season 5.

I can see why Sky have done this, but it won't work. Just because they got 24 didn't mean I got Sky, and I won't now they've gotten lost...

wish they would get lost and stop buying exclusive rights to the decent US shows in the desperate hope we will all buy sky dished

I wouldn't subscribe to them because I don't like the way they do this, it's underhand and greedy

C4 held onto Friends throughout anyhow - it's just for a few years until E4 launched Sky One had the first run rights.

The market now is quite different in that usually the same company will hold the first run rights and secondary rights - and Sky will hold on to them to screen Lost at some point on Sky Three.
