Sky One Newsbreaks

I remember a while back on TV Home there was a Sky One 'Newsbreak' clip - but i think it was taken away for 'security reasons.'

Anyway, I was wondering, does Sky One still have Newsbreaks? And why don't they have a news programmes? I know it's an entertainment channel, but in an age were a TV stations image is very important, don't you think it would raise the prestige of Sky One to have news bulletins?

I always thought that Sky News at Ten would've been perfect for Sky One but then everyone got in on the act so it would just be silly now. How about a 2100 programme? (But in a different style).

I have not seen the newsbreaks in month though I always thought that the intro for newsbreaks looked a lot better than any of the tacky Sky One idents

No, Sky One no longer has News Updates (or newsbreaks as they were called in 1998)

Incidently, a VERY long time ago (around 1989-91), Sky World News Tonight (as it was then called) was relayed across both Sky One (or Sky Channel) and Sky News at 11pm. This is the only regular 1/2 hour news bulitten Sky One has had in its history though. And I doubt there will be another.

but then again, why should they have news bulletins? it's a case of flicking from one channel to another if you want news...broadcasting joint programmes when you can get both channels is pointless in my opinion...the BBC ONE/NEWS 24 joint broadcast is logical, because not everyone has cable/satellite/ DTT...but a Sky One/Sky News joint service...no point

Except for ITV Digital viewers, who get Sky One but not Sky News...in fact, they're rather starved for news channels as far as I can see...

In fact when that World News Tonight relay was on Sky One, I don't think I could get Sky News at the time. I had Sky Channel/One from day one of multichannel Sky Television, however my cable company didn't see fit to relay Sky News for a year or so.

Why isn't Sky News on ITV Digital?
