Would this be the 4th above inflation rise in as many years then? Is the multichannels package hitting £20 this time?
Yes £19.50, 50p short of £20.00!

I suspect it's more to do with the fact that ITV1 aren't allowed (by the ITC) to show as many ads as Sky. I'm sure they would if they could.
I'm pretty sure I'm right in says that cable/sat stations are allowed to show more ads than their terrestrial counterparts ...

Does anyone know why Sky insist on showing so many adverts?

I reckon the problem with Sky One is that their schedule is almost entirely comprised of Pokemon, the Simpsons and Star Trek, and when they do get something else on (eg Alias, but see also Fastlane, Jeremiah) they stick it at three in the morning or demote it to Sky One Mix (in even less homes than the parent). S1 tried to go upmarket (remember the Sunny D family quote) but has now reversed this. The third series of Alias will never be shown on British TV and it's 'cos S1 are scared of showing anything that isn't Pokemon, the Simpsons or Star Trek in case they lose viewers, so S1 are gonna get stuck in a spiral. And when the episodes of Simps, Poke and Trek dry up, S1 will be high and dry. But then so would C4 without Friends or ITV without Corrie...
