I've noticed that during the end credits of every single programme this evening on Sky One, the music fades for a vo but none comes. You just get quieter music and then it fades up again. Suggests a completely automated system.

That same problem tends to happen on UKTV quite a bit as well

Yep! I noticed it as well!

It's the same on the menu's as well, usually they have most of them VO'd!

and the annoying thing was that I had my VCR ready and waiting to record SKY ONE .. and after the break ... agh! The CA's back!

Sky One has been announcerless quite often lately. Anyone know when new idents will launch, and indeed if the way Sky is written in the SKYFI logo will be the new corporate font?

Sky One's usual 'voice' - Claire Sturgess - is a very busy lady... she juggles Sky One v/o with presentation for other channels (including MTV2 - most visibly on metal show 'The RiOT'), as well as regular slots on Xfm and work on promos, commercials, etc. I think Ms Sturgess is just taking a break to put her feet up for a bit. Enjoy your break Claire, you deserve it...
