I think Sky One needs to have a Sky News bulletin 3 times a day, a breakfast type show, a political type show, more quality Drama and Entertainment, Documentaries and Soaps... put it in the same league as BBC 1 etc.

Yeah, they really should be more like BBC3 at least. A bit more varity wouldn't go a miss.

Why? Everyone who has Sky One has Sky News. Who's going to turn to Sky One for news? Rolling Eyes

I don't think BBC3s news service is needed either, it's rather poor and should be done away with imo.

I rather think you are the lazy child around here, based on your replies in topics you have started. Though in fairness most schools did break up for summer holiday on Friday, so that might explain things.

I don't know why I'm bothering to reply to this threads, but Sky One did have news. In the early days, they did a simulcast with Sky News late in the evenings, and up until 2000 there was 'Newsbreak' - 60 second updates between certain programmes. Very useful they were too, and which all added to Sky One feeling like a 'real' channel back then, instead of at best a second rate filler emporium as it does now.

Newsbreak used to be shown hourly on Sky One on Weekdays between 9am and 5pm, it was either read by someone from Sky News or Martin Weeden, an announcer at Sky, don't know if he's still there.

I like the idea of having 60 Seconds style News on stations like Sky One and BBC3, though I don't see the point of having a 30 minute News bulletin on BBC3. But I'd like to ITV News Updates on ITV2 instead of Entertainment News. But some may argue why bother? There's Sky News, BBC News 24 and ITV News Channel, people know where they are when they want the News.

But switch to a news channel and they'll probably be half way through an interview or a report. Its nice to have someone give you a quick update on the day's events before the top of the hour, when I suppose most people are flicking through the channels. Quicker than switching to a news channel, quicker than waiting for a ticker to get to the news you want to know about, and quicker than pressing the red button (and waiting for News Active or BBCi to fire up). I think an hourly news update from Sky News on Sky One and ITV News on ITV3 would be quite welcome.
