Cheshirec, with all due repects, you are just insulting people here who are your best bet of shedding any light on matters like this...
I think you are totally arrogant and need to get some manners, especially when you say people are making stuff up.
I will no longer be commenting on the Sky News relaunch, or any other boradcasting information for that matter, because obviously you don't value it...
As for proof, well, would you like everyone knowing all your business??? It is an internal matter at Sky, and they will decide if and when to go public...
News comes in and out of Sky Centre all the time from different sources, but obviously you don't believe any of it because 'we lead you to believe that it is all made up.'
The new look hasn't had any press attention, because sky want it that way, and as for the set.......................
Well, i'm not telling cos you will think it is made up, so, sorry everyone else, if you wanna know, then you'll have to wait and see.
Thanks
Kev
Kev, from the moment you arrived in the chatroom your relaunch seemed to be total fantasy! The idea of Sky having a CNN style studio, then all of a sudden they were having studios for each programme then they were having the window back, then it was a more comfy feel, I mean for god's sake!
How on earth do you expect me to believe it?
You have certainly not been of any help to me with regards to the relaunch and the election programming.
Remember you told me how wonderful the election graphics were going to be, with the BBC having graphics like NBC only with a more British feel, blah blah blah, where did this all go!? And how the Sky News graphics were really good, then all of a sudden they were like Powerpoint graphics, I mean make up your mind!
Looking back it just shows how naive I was to believe you!
Kev, I think you are the one who needs some sort of education in honesty, if you are going to make something up then at least stick to your story instead of changing it week by week.
I would like people to know about my business if it were about to undertake a massive transformation, as a previous poster has said the last relaunch was all over the customer mag, they also released details of it.
As for BSkyB and Sky News well I am sorry but this is a rather large business matter.
And it would CERTAINLY have been picked up on organisations such as the FT and the Guardian if the news was as widely known as you percieve it to be.
I frankly do not want you to post in here anymore if only because of the fact that you will get people who are stupid enough to believe the rubbish you spurt out to believe you.
So far NOTHING you have said about anything has come true so why on earth should I value your opinion?
I do not believe you are anyone's 'best bet' of shedding any light on anything to be honest, especially considering your track record and the fact that the story changes every week.
Feel free to post in here Kev. but I will treat it with the comedy value it deserves.

Well, you've certainly got your dander up. You're 100% right though. Kev, don't talk out of your bum, that newsroom behind is not real. We all saw on the election coverage how they can do all weird camera angles with virtual studios. And how do you explain them getting the background image wrong as mentioned earlier?
It is not that I am angry, just annoyed.
I am sick of being fed rubbish about this relaunch and everything it entails.
We were even told that Bob Friend was leaving, yet he is still alive and well at Sky.
Whilst everyone loves gossip, there can be no doubt about that, it does get people's expectations up and I think we are perhaps getting our hopes up to high, especially if you were thinking of the CNN style thing we were originally told about.
As much as I like rumours I do not like lies.
I just simply cannot believe that Sky would not have planned this so well in advance, and the idea that they could have been 'set back' in some way seems a little odd. You don't just head first into redoing your whole studios without having a clue what you are doing, and without planning for any possible set backs.
I cannot believe that Sky themselves do not know what they are doing (as suggested by Kev) and when it will be finished, they would have to have planned this to perfection.... they aren't going to want to spend weeks in that studio are they?
In fact, you even said the were going to destroy the whole newsroom area etc, and open it all up with the call centre at the side.... I mean surely these plans would cost a fortune to make, they aren't likely to scrap them at the last moment, as you later suggested.
It's quite amusing really, i'm just thinking about all of the things you have said and realising what complete crap it all was at the same time.
The newsroom image is chromakey, its just a blue screen and the image of the newsroom is added by computer.
The rest of the studio is real and exists with two back projected screens.

Right, for your information, I work at a credited news and internet communications firm that works cloesly with Broadcasting as we provide those facilities and broadcast services.
I tell you, what I am told..... If this changes, then so be it. I can't control what i am informed of. I get informed of information from inside Sky Centre and from within contracted personnel to Sky.
Sky News' election graphics were as expected, and met what i was informed would happen (especially for Sky Digital viewers through interactive), and the BBC graphics included the ticker system...
The BSKYB and Sky News story HAS been picked up by the media, as this option has been discussed for a while, and at the BSKYB AGM, information was available at an informal level, although i have no evidence of this...
To be quite honest, I couldn't give a toss what your opinion is about me, because I'm far more valued than that, it's a good job you don't know just how much I do know...
You're not exactly the best poster in the world, in your little childish outburst, you managed to contradict your self...
'I frankly do not want you to post in here anymore'
-next breath-
'Feel free to post in here Kev'
I reckon that if anyone from Sky News is looking in here, they are having a right good laugh. It just goes to show they've got it exactly right, keeping viewers guessing as to what's going on, it makes it more fun and I expect is a cunning ratings ploy.

hmmmmm
cheers
kev
They both mean quite different things.
I personally do not want you to post in here.
But I am not going to stop you if you choose to do so.
Kev, you have managed to contradict yourself in EVERYTHING you have said!
You know, this Sky News relaunch has gone from the stage where you have told us that they are demolishing the entire news area to the stage where they are keeping that window on the newsroom!
I mean, how stupid do you really think we are?
I am perfectly happy for you to prove me wrong over the BSkyB Sky News split, but as you said.. you cannot prove anything.
The Sky News election graphics were, according to you 'Hot'... were they really?
You told me the BBC programming was to be called 'Britain Decides', oh right... not sure which election I was watching on the BBC then.
And don't tell me they have changed their minds. They would have prepared for the Vote 2001 thing WELL in advance, because of the fact that the election was 'delayed', you told me it was to be called that after Blair had set back the election, you even amused me by telling me the election was a close run race... you really are a funny guy.
You never mentioned anything about the interactive coverage on Sky on election night, the first I heard about it was in the OFFICIAL press release.
You also never mentioned the ticker system... a very minor part of the election night, and you even said Sky would be keeping their ticker, with an on screen FTSE Dog, judging by the look of the current astons, this is not the case.
I actually am not sure you are valuable at all, especially when it comes to actual real information. Although I do find your lies interesting.
Sky needs to do some serious sorting out of its staff if they are behind all of the crap you have been feeding to us.
As for you knowing all Kev... come on. Like I said, nothing you have said has actually happened yet so whatever leads you to the conclusion that you know so much is frankly amusing.

Oh and also, when a refit is planned, it is done to a schedule, as you rightly said chesh.
The initial relaunch was put into disrepute with the Foot and Mouth delaying the election....
This was then rescheduled to co-inside with the start of the election coverage, but was put back again due to unforseen circumstances not made public, and i don't know either...
Now we see that things are going into full motion.
I told you of the newsroom ideas and designs, that were made known to me. I also know of redesigns for other studios, and the possibility of programming studios...... (Sportsline, Sunday, etc etc)
The Newsroom image is infact chroma keyed on, and this can be edited at anytime, I have already stated this.
The studio is REAL there, and the one used on election night was quite literally virtual with the pieces of the set exsisting, but with no image on them.
The plans for this relaunch are long-running, but as i said, put back due to Foot and Mouth
Sky had many options, including an open-planned studio and newsroom, which i was informed, was seriously considered.
Studio refits to cost a lot, and this refit includes a technology update.
