Tonight Sky News will change to studio 3 to allow training and testing in their new studio. Their aim is to get the 'News Wall' and other parts of the set up and running in time for the war which we will porbably have next week. They want to be able to use the wall to show large maps of attacks and invasions.
The change over will be hidden by a showing a pre-recorded earlier bulliten at midnight.

Whats your source, and also, what does studio 3 look like?
Come on Google - are you a Sky employee ? Please elaborate !
ReLaunchNow - youve been quiet for a while...have you got anything to add to this suggestion ?
Ill second MDTA's question - what does studio 3 look like and will they be sat at the 'new' desk with the 'old' backdrop behind them until go-live of the new look ?
They've got too many studios! Why do they need so many? They are only ever going to be using Studio 2 after the 30th or the 24th - whenever.
I'm not sure what studio 2 is used for.

I can not reveal my sources, I am sure Sky would not be happy to see the secret details of their re-launch being given out willy nilly.
However I can assure you it is true. It may however not be that obviouse as they will not want people to notice they are changing things around. Studio 3 will probably be a simillar CSO (Chroma Key) Bkgnd as they already use.
Sorry Goggle - Id got 'Google' on the brain as I was looking through their usenet service at the time !
So just to get this straight, they are moving into another temporary studio tonight (ie not the studio which the relaunched service will broadcast from) but they will retain the same onscreen look/graphics etc ?
Can you comment on how this will benefit 'training' for the new set ?
Finally, will the on-screen relaunch go live on Monday 24th or sooner ?

that was a bit harsh there andrew. i agree that the events of the last week or so have been difficult to stomach, but at the end of the day, 21st centuary news
is
the utilisation of all aspects of electronic media to hand. one can hardly blame Sky for taking advantage of this.
On the other hand, CNN's 'interactive attack guide' did seem a bit OTT...

I can see why Sky would want to do this. I noticed this morning that BBC News 24 is already doing a similar sort of thing with Julie Etchingham standing in front of a massive chromakey screen with maps and other graphics.

Yes saw that, it was a huge chromakey area - is this a new area or the old one that is often used.
