You'd think that they'd just not bother putting the old one up at all, for just 10 days, then stick the new one up.
It would be good if Sky News used the corporate font but IMO Sky News has to establish a well known face for itself - CNN have managed it with the 'wire', changing your logo every few years can't be cheap either.
True! If they took the current logo, I'm sure they could make something very nice out of it.
I'm not fussed whether they use the corporate font or not, the old font could be put to very good use if the redesign the logo in the right way.

He is too young to retire! I think he is only 62 or 63, and (I only found this out the other day) Dan Rather from CBS News is 69! So really hes got ages to stay on at Sky News if he wanted too! So is that something else RLN said, as he said that Bob had retired?

I have made a mock up of the Videowall using a corporate sky news logo, i think it looks so natural, it could be the actual one, i can imagine it on the videowall, start and end of bullitins.
I'll tell you what Martin, Sky may as well have taken you on to supervise the re-launch, you seem to be able to do anything related to TV presentation, and you would have had it done in far less time than Sky!
I definitely think that Sky News needs a permanent identity that's separate from the corporate look. CNN has used the same logo for ages, and it's become a well-known symbol like the McDonald's 'M'. And MSNBC has also had the same logo since its launch in 1996 (with a few minor changes).
I don't think it's a very good idea for Sky News to change its logo every time the sky corporate graphics change and, while I actually think that the logo in mdta's picture looks fantastic, it'll end up looking dated when Sky change their logo again (which is bound to happen sooner or later!).
I think they need to come up with some really good branding, with a view to using it forever!

At least it will fit with the rest of the Sky Brand, and it is easy to manipulate for future rebrandings, as its a monotoned logo like most of them now adays
