Sky News Set

Very nice! The images here and on TV Ark have shown me basically what it's like - can anyone capture the start of the hour or some other video clips of the camera movements and what happens? I would be grateful to them for ever!!

It will be interesting to see how good the whole package is when the graphics, titles and logo all come together...

Am I the only person who thinks its not very good? Yes its better than what Sky News was before but I'm disappointed. They've copied everyone else - screens showing other news feeds from News 24, video wall from Channel Four News, showing the Newsroom - just about every news programme. They should have thought of something new and original. And it does look rather grey and dull. Hopefully it will be improved with the relaunch.

I didn't like it at first, but having watched it for a bit now, I've decided I quite like it. Is that a glass screen or a CSO? it looks a bit CSO and when I've seen them prepare to use the vid wall to show military stuff, the presenter looks really tiny.

And I noticed there was newsroom type noise as they were going over to it earlier.

As everyone said, it's gonna be interesting when it finally comes altogether.

I think the studio is fantastic!

It looks very fresh and modern and its much better than the previous studio. (1998 - 2001)

I would be happy enough if they just tweaked the on screen graphics, gave them a new logo and kept the current music. It really is great music!

I hope they replace it with something just as good, hopefully better!!!

Anyway, I'm glad its gone ahead and I really love the videowall. Roll on the 30th so I can see the new graphics and hear the new music.

Yep, this studio just looks great. The newsroom looks I'd say about 3X as big as it was when you could see it through the old set window. It makes look very big, and the pale blue lighting effect when the camera is on the newsroom window makes the newsroom blend in with the studio. In fact, when the camera is on the 2 presenters with the 'newswall' (as they call it), you can hardly tell their is a wall of glass seperating the newsroom and studio. Good work Sky, it was worth the wait. Now all we have to do is wait for the new graphics and music and we shall see if it makes Sky News even better.

I have never been a real fan of Sky news but I think the studio/videowall/desk are fantastic. Good move sky!

Plus, love the way the huge BREAKING NEWS appears on videowall when something big happens.

When will you get it into your heads, Sky News have used monitors banks showing different feeds and channels since *1989* - News 24 didn't start until 1999 - get your facts right.

The videowall is much better than Channels 4's version - larger, clearer and less thick lines joining up screens.
Sky have also shown the newsroom since 1989 - you know, if you're going to make statements like that at least make them accurate.
The studio doesn't look 'grey and dull' IMO, its a clean and modern approach. The newsroom lighting blends in excellently to the studio and the zooming in and out from the newsroom looks great.

The videowall looks better when they use the purple globe on it - not the different feeds.
The newsroom looks increadibly large too.

Please don't fight, I don't like it!!!

I'm not fighting, but it just seems that some people are intent on being picky and negative - only pointing out what's wrong with the set and not what's good about it.

It's a totally original design, certainly from news studios I've seen in the past.

If people come in and lash out at Sky just because they have their facts wrong then I think it's perfectly acceptable for me to correct them. Enough said.

Just a thought - but I think I'm wrong - That 'extension' to the newsroom could always be a huge mirror.

Does anyone remember the mock studio picture that someone did showing Simon McCoy with a video wall behind him? My eyes nearly popped out when I switched Sky News on this morning and saw the EXACT SAME THING! It was scarily accurate! Well done whoever did that, and bad egg to RelaunchNow who said it wasn't what it would look like.

Much as I like the video wall, I can't help but feel that it won't be long until it just shows one whole picture all of the time, like the Breaking News or the US one. They look amazing! I think that the different pictures at present are there just for show really.

On the whole, though, I am incredibly impressed and slightly surprised as I didn't expect it yet! It is certainly the best news studio I have ever seen!
