yeah, the new studio looks great... much better than the old one.
I noticed the person in the background looking nervous! the studio isn't what I expected, but I think it looks like to designers got their idea for the video wall from CBS News....

Sky have been around long before News 24, they have had live dogs, the videowall is not like bbcs squares in the walls,

Ryan you stupid idiot... it's the other way round.
Anything that SKY does, N24 copies...
the latest example is the on=screen text... even the summing up of the main points of the US conflict.
And they employ SKY cast offs!

Well You can't miss it when they hit Breaking News. The whole wall goes red with BREAKING NEWS written across it.
They just used the video wall with a reporter standing next to it to show the types of military hardwear that could be used in Afghanistan. It looked pretty good until the camera pulled wide and you could see the top of someone in the newsrooms head.
Also what was the little post he was standing infront of?
They also have a camera above the video wall looking back at the studio which they use when going to the breaks. The Anchors will have to keep the floor behind the desk tidy as it is plain view from this shot.
The sport people now have a proper bkgnd, hurray no more dodgy gobo!

Well...
the newsroom background is good.
The newswall and the style of graphics they are using on it look nice - and after a couple of uses, they seem to have at least for now thankfully dropped the large red 'NewsWall' animation at the start and the end, which was frankly far more focusing on the method of delivery than the content.
The studio has a nice 'clean' feel about it as well, and I like the use of the camera within the newsroom at the end of bulletins - and can't help feeling it should also be used at the start, or during the new look countdown, if there is one from Monday.
I think the breaking news animation is far too distracting, it should animate once then stop. Also at the moment you're getting two bangs, once when the video wall starts, and then again when you get the normal aston.
Is someone going to go through and identify all the sources on the 24 screens?

It's very impressive, but not at all what I was expecting! The backdrop is fantastic because it can always change - for example that map of the world looks great on the videowall and then they change it to have all of the different feeds coming in - it's excellent.
The zooming out from the newsroom is what I was expecting and does look good, the newsroom looks massive!
It's clean and very impressive, very modern and I'd rather look at it than the CNN US studio any day. The News 24 studio looks boring in comparison.
The one thing I will say that has annoyed me is the reflections in the screen - because the screen is closer to the presenters than the N24 screen is, it's quite obvious that you can see a relfection in the background, they sorted this out by using different angles but other than that it's fantastic.
Ryan - FYI when News 24 started the BBC employed many of the workers who left Sky. Sky have had a monitor bank since 1989, and I personally cannot see how the Sky and News 24 studios are at all similar.
Remember, the graphics used for the wall are probably only temporary - we know a new set will be introduced on the 30th. I thought the breaking news animation looked good, certainly eyecatching.
The desk is excellent, it's just a really fresh and modern design - very original too - I've never seen any other design like it.
Well done Sky!

I have not included the computers and people rushing around in the news room, just the videowall, desk and outer set.
