The countdown to September 3rd continues....

The listings for September 3rd on skyGuide should be available tomorrow.  Best time to check would be around midday.  So far i've checked digiguide and its sister partner and it doesn't show any changes to original programmes for September 3rd.  Mind  you the listings has sky news international at 10.30 and 4.30 so it musn't be updated.

Anyone know of any websites that has different listings for September 3rd.

P.s Have been keeping a low profile for a while.  Had problems with e-mail address.  But its great to be back now.

Fair play to u

Yes, the final countdown is on! I doubt the schedule will actually be any different from September 3rd - but it might just have the new presenter pairings (unless that's what you meant!). And I suppose there's a chance the might change the name of 'news on the hour' to something else.

By the way, how would everyone feel if they switched on to sky news on September 3rd and found that nothing had changed?! Wink

Oh, and I wonder if CNBC will finally move into their new studio around the same time...

To be honest I think that they might just be about to drop the NEWS ON THE HOUR with sky news now having news on the half hour ( Sure they weren't able to put it in after the nine o clock news because it isn't news on the hour) If they do it it will be about time because I am sick and tired of hearing the term. If this is as a much a major relaunch as the length of time says it was Sky news might even be the only channel tomorrow night not to have listings for next monday.

For some inexplicable reason, the half hour after the 9 o'clock news was actually called 'news on the hour'. I really can't see how they can keep it, as it's basically a relic from the days when they had news on the hour and features on the half-hour (after they dropped 'Sky news at two, three etc').

I'd personally like to see 'Sky News Live' or 'Sky News First' but, if they change it, my guess would be that they'd simply call it 'Sky News'!

I've just checked Digiguide, and I noticed that up until next Friday it says 'sky news international' instead of world news but, from september 3rd, it says 'sky world news'. Strange...

News on the Hour has been used for ages, not sure whether they'll stick with it or not.
As much as I'd like them to bring the old schedule back, and just have the news a little more integrated, that isn't going to happen.
Sky need to liven it up a little bit, get phone calls from viewers instead of just votes, and rename some of the programmes.

6am-9am Sunrise
9am-12pm Morning News
12pm-4pm Today
6-8pm Sky News Tonight
8-12pm Primetime
With Live at Five remaining and World News remaining, with all 30 minute programmes being known as Sky News Live.

Wont happen though.
I'd be devastated if nothing happened on September 3rd!!

How about this.....
6-9am: Live at Sunrise
9-12: Live This Morning
12-5: Live Today
5-7: Live at Five
7-12: Live Tonight
12-6: Nightline

In case you haven't noticed yet, I like the word 'live'! And yes, OK, I skanked the first three from CNN... Smile

Remember all the old names - Newsline (which was actually dropped before I got sky), Dayline, International (referred to in listings as 'world news and business report' for some bizarre reason), Live Tonight, Newsline etc

They used to have some great names - The News at Noon - ok that's not so great, Newsline was great, World News Hour, Sky News Tonight - which was like a much better version on HardTalk on News 24.
Or Tonight With Adam Boulton as it became.
Then there was Frank Bough, Sky's version of Larry King. He was the guy who launched BBC Breakfast Time.
1998 was a big change for Sky, and I guess they're changing it all over again.
No doubt that in 4 years time there will be another massive change and it will mean presenters and programmes getting moved all over again!

Ah, the old days - Michael Wilson & Penny Smith on Sunrise, Selina Scott & Scott Chisholm on World News Tonight (I think it was called that!). Admittedly I never actually saw any of this, as I didn't get Sky until 94, but it sounded good anyway!

When I first got sky news, sunrise was presented by Bob Friend and Anna Walker (who were great together - possibly the reason why he was later paired with the similar Anna Botting?!). Frank Partridge and Selina Scott did Live at Five, and Laurie Mayer and Vivien Creegor did World News Hour/World News Tonight. I seem to remember the latter being an especially good combo.

Out of interest, whatever happened to David Glencorse and Linda Duberly (late afternoons) and Stefanie Callister?

Glencorse went to Meridian Tonight, for a time anyway.
Callister married her co-presenter (!), although I've forgotten his name now, don't think it was Steven Cole, I'll check.
Duberly went to Fox News and opened their Hong Kong office she is now working as a reporter on 'Tonight with Trev.', on ITV.
Callister now does the news on GMTV, on Sunday's usually.

Anna Walker was great wit Bob Friend, although not as good as Kay Burley, it was pure comedy with those two presenting.
A full list of presenters is available at www.skyride.co.uk
Sky World News Tonight was relayed out on Sky One, for a time.
Mayer and Creegor worked together right up until Mayer left in 1998.
Chris Morris was also one of Sky's big name presenters, a bit like Bob Friend. He defected to the BBC though and was last seen presenting on News 24.
Sky really should make an effort to get some of their oldies back!

She married Chris Mann, also one of the original presenters.

By the way has anyone noticed on sky guide that :
sky news today @2.00pm
news on the hour @3.00pm
sky news today @ 4.00pm
But i suppose that for the moment because they do not show the programme titles (sunrise, today, live at five etc.) which is also what we should watch out for when sky news relaunches next monday

Also i dont know whether it has changed or not but :
sky news today @ 12.00pm
news on the hour @ 1.00pm
sky news today @ 2.00pm
I'm not sure but i think it was o saturday and sunday
