So that's what the schedule will look like - as for
music and graphics, I don't know for sure yet. Hope
this is of interest.

Cheers,

Marcus.

PS. As you can see, there will still be business news,
just not self-contained programmes. And Your Call was
axed not for cost cutting reasons (it was done live in
studio 2 after all) but because it doesn't fit the
'constant rolling news' model...

Some interesting info there, I'm sure you'll agree!

Alas, poor Technofile, I knew thee well Smile RIP <sniff>

Is that it for magazine shows on Sky News then? I thought they used those for doing silly things, like changing presenters and setting up techie stuff?

Well we know for a fact that it isn't going to look like that....
...But at least we now know that the studio is to be in the newsroom, which will be extended and revamped, which is excellent news to say the least!

Yeah, didn't you get that, I did put a few desks in, it was just a bit of fun really, the logo's when I made them were nice, i'll post jpegs, later.

Err..... anyone notice something slightly odd about that?
30 min shows?!?!!?!?
This is going to be awful, and increadibly boring too, what the hell are they doing?

I'd rather have the old format back, with the old studio than have 30 min shows that just loop back again!
This is going to be so boring to watch.
I'm not so happy about this anymore.

It will be like Sky Sports.com TV, there will be no time for anything in detail at all, i'm sorry but this just sounds really crap now!
Also, SS.comTV has today been rebranded as Sky Sports News (again)

I think Sky had planned for this for quite some time.
The idea was that no-one was watching Sky Sports News originally, so they changed the name to SS.comTV and people became curious as to what it was.
They tuned in and stayed with it regardless of the name, however stupid!
Now they have built up the viewing figures to a good leve theyhave changed it back as people will still just go to channel 413.
It looks much better and sounds much better to.
I wonder if at the Sky News relaunch they will say 'From the Sky News Centre this is Sky News' like they do on Sky Sports News?

About 5 years ago we had 'From the Sky satellite network . . . THIS IS SKY NEWS'

Ahh but if what you say is true, that BSkyB and Sky News are to part then they can't say that anymore!
CNN always CNN --' Xtime on the East coast Xtime out west, Morning, Afternoon it's DAY DATE, From the CNN Center in Atlanta this is X, i'm X and i'm X'
I just think that a 30 min show is not anywhere near enough to fit in news in detail.
I know most of the time the shows will be an hour long but it would make more sense if they were all 1 hour shows.

I was not suggesting that phrase would return.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to do full hour shows on days like today (apart from 1200-1300, & in the hour slots from 1700). There isn't enough news & its not worth filling in time interviewing guests (who have to be paid) talking about non-stories

I suppose that they are going for 30 mins programmes so that there is a difference between the feature programming like Live at Five and Sunrise.

As we've said, originally it used to be 30 mins news then a recorded programme. Live at Five and all were different because they covered things in depth and had more interviews.

I suppose they do it else there will be nothing to show the programmes apart.

It also means that if you switch on you are not more than 30 mins away from the headlines and reports covering them. If it was a hour then it wouldn't fir it with their new 'rolling news' image.

Of couse it does allow us to see more of the new studio, which I am sure they will spend most of the time talking about for the first few days!!!
And of course in the event of breaking news all of the programmes will be extended anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
What I want to know is whois going to be presenting for all of the extra time??

Sunrise:
Monday and Friday, Mark Longhurst and Natasha Kaplinsky
Rest of week, Simon McCoy and Natasha Kaplinsky
Weekends, Mark Longhurst and... I think Sheila Jansen when she comes back

But then we have a new 2 hour slot, before this was only 2, 30 min bulletins so 1 presenter could cope with it, but can Bob and Anna really do from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon?
It should be split up so that Sunrise ends at 9 and then there is a 3 hour shift from 9-12 that could be anchored by Sheila Jansen and someone else, perhaps a new person?
Then Today from 12-4 with Bob and Anna then 4-8 with Kay and JT and then 8-12 with Martin and Vivien?

That would make more sense.
Because really a 6 hour long, continuous live shift is too much for just 2 presenters.
I hope they have phone in sections for certain shows, that would be much better, like CNN do.
They do the news and then jst randomly chip into the phone calls for about 10 mins and then go back to the news, makes for a much more relaxed environment.

Not sure who could be put on at the weekends in the 9-12 shift or the 12-4 shift.
Perhaps Allan King and Fiona McDiarmid in the 9-12 shift and then Emily Maitlis and another person I can't think of!
Any ideas?

Fiona is in the process of treatment for breat cancer.

Get well soon!

Sky News had phone-ins before Your Call - during Sunrise:
egs . . .
[b1])[/b] Louise Woodward's home-coming (Tim Marshall was infact the guest, wearing jeans in the studio, having just some off the plane with Woodward & had been up without sleep for over 24 hours! useless fact of the day )
2) Daily during France 98
