Breaking News zone?

Would the presenters say: Now we're getting some breaking news into us @ Sky Centre, but before we tell you, we'll have to move to the Breaking News zone!!!

The new programme names etc won't be introduced until the new logo is

Yes, maybe not! But would be interesting to see correspondents rushing up to the desk from the newsroom to tell us more as it broke!!

Sky normally only bring their health & crime Corresp & (during the election) political Editor into the studio

Do you think they should do more in the studio? If it's going to be half as good as we all now expect (I sense we may be building our hopes too high!!) then they may have more people in the studio?!

Like the diagram, Chesh!

It would be fantastic if it actually looked like that.

As other people have said, we'd better not build our hopes too high as the studio might not be that good.

I hope it is nice though, we've waited long enough! Smile

Sky need to move away from sitting behind a desk reading news, they can do so much more!

Video walls, platforms, water features, bridges, fantastic lighting, great music, spectacular astons and graphics (and news) ---- it could be excellent.

But we all know they won't do that. Bugger

Water features, bridge ?

This is Sky News, coming live from a B&Q Warehouse near you.

Water features? It's not a garden!
Do you know any newsroom with a water feature.

Perhaps they could have a swimming pool area to do the light-hearted stuff from, with sand, with the presenters on deck chairs

We were posting @ the same time there!

Read the rest of the post!

I'm talking about a water wall - basically lots of water running down between two layers of glass, lighted by blue lights. It would actually be quite effective and really original. Trust me on this one - I'm a designer. Actually, I'm not.

Picture it now, Bob Friend in a deck chair with a hanky on his head, trouser legs rolled up, ice-cream in hand

'Now for the latest on the Milosevic extradition, it's over to Kay in the pool'

Cut to Kay, shower cap over her hair laying on an inflatable lilo, 'Thanks Bob'.

Whats wrong with a water feature?

Personally, I think it would be a very good idea.

Now that they are concentrating on rolling news, they need a good studio that looks nice and is practical. Its going to be seen for 24 hours a day!

The news, especially news channels can get a little boring after a while, a nice relaxed studio would be good for us and the presenters.

They could have all the main news in the first half hour at the desk, then in the second half hour, they could move to the comfy area and do the stories in more detail with correspondents or have some lighter news stories.

Actually, that sounds a bit too much like BBC Breakfast. Smile

Nice idea, I suppose but its just not going to happen!
