I expect it will be about as high as the Sky Sports studio, about 1m high in the air.
It will certainly be higher than the ITV studios.
By definition a dias is a raised platform to give attention to the people on it, so it will have to be higher than the ITV ones, and it won't have a sofa on it for god's sake!
They will certain spruce up the area, perhaps those glass blocks like on Breakfast (stolen from NBC Today) and have water running down them, would be a nice feature!

Oh yeah! A nice water feature would look very nice in the Sky News studio. I can actually imagine what it might look like now, we have a bit more of an idea, at least!

It's hard to explain by typing, but I was talking about the 'soft' area. What I mean by a sofa is a comfortable chair or two and a glass table - somewhere guests can sit and do the newspaper review for instance.

Yeah that would nice! They could have that nearer ground level!

Oooohhh! You could even have the presenters walk down some stairs to go and meet Simon Bates! Smile

That's exactly it! Sky should move away from the formal 'behind the desk' style of news. They should combine their set with Channel 4 News (where they stand up in front of the TV wall), BBC News (nice, modern chrome and wood desks) and...... You've Been Framed!

The presenters should walk about to different areas of the studio, and have different sections like ss.com tv as chesh suggested.

See - I should be a set designer!!

a water feature sounds good to me. it keeps things calm and relaxed.

Thanks for the support - you're the only one who likes that idea Smile

Now I know what you mean it sounds really good.
I am just imagining it in my head now and it seems really good!
The water features would be amazing and make it so much nicer and less formal.
The sofa idea for the soft area is good they could go there for interviews etc.
I think they could have that wooden flooring tiles and on the walls the waterfalls!
Of course it wont happen but would be a nice thought!!!
The entire studio area could be on a higher level than the newsroom and they could walk around that area to different sections, they could even have a section for breaking news, with better computers and a desk etc.
I'll do a bird's eye view.

I would like to see a nice water feature!

I think Sky will be trying to make a good looking studio. Normally when someone relaunches they take notice of what other people have done and then take certain elements and combine them all.

I hope Sky does that!

I think that it would also give the newsroom a lift, a nice water feature. Would improve the work done.

Also they could have someone running up the stairs behind the presenters and handing them a bit of paper. Then looking startled the presenters say 'News, just in...'

Ok, maybe not! Very Happy

Now this doesn't look exactly as I wanted it to, but still ok.
My dad is an expert with AutoCAD so I will ask him to make a 3d model of our studios and see how it looks!

Just checked next week's schedules and it appears that there is literally nothing other than news.
Your Call is out, which is a real shame, it was an excellent programme.
Perhaps they will bring NewsLine back?
But looking at the schedules the only variation is Sky World News.
During the night there is only news, a la election time, and I presume with two presenters.
Still, it means we will get to see more of the studios.
I guess that at the relaunch we will see some different names for programmes, not just News on the Hour... every hour.
Oh no, they might bring back the old slogan.
I recon things like Morning News, Today will remain and perhaps news programmes but different sorts of news programmes, like NewsLine used to be.
It was a news programme mainly but took viewer calls on things and interviewed guests etc.
Will be interesting though, but also interesting to see what happens to the ratings.

The map is great - I love the idea of a 'Breaking News Zone' !
