Thanks! Haven't updated it for almost a year (seeing as they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth!). Not sure what went wrong with the pic - looked fine when I previewed the post before sending it. Can anyone help?

------> coming up this week <----------------

Showbiz Weekly . . . has it really gone forever? Full details within days.

New-look Sky News . . . will there be a water feature? More gossip on the much anticipated re-fit.

Keep rollin', rollin' rollin'

That's how it is on Sky News now - have to get used to it. Christmas Day will be fun - maybe we'll get 15 minute segments repeated!

Oh my goodness. He's now doing trailers! I feel as if I'm watching a rolling news service: 'And still to come in the programme...'

<<Has Sportsline also been axed? (hopefully so!!!)>>

Well, yes and no. As a self contained half-hour show
it has, but we now do certain sports belts from the
soft area (eg, 12.20 and 18.20) and call it
Sportsline. It even has the Subaru bumpers in and out.
A bit odd, really...

<<On the subject of the look of Sky News, I think
anyone who has watched the channel over the past month
agrees that they just look too temporary.>>

Granted, things look a little rough around the edges
in our current home of studio 7 (particularly wide
shots), but as far as the graphics go, I think this
look is here to stay. Certainly, I like it. But things
are still changing by the day - for instance, all gfx
provided by the gfx department now key themselves: up
until last week the vision mixer had to do that...Bear
with us. Once we get back to studio 2 and settle in
again (July 28th?), we'll start to look very polished
indeed. The gfx dekkos and the kalypso vision mixing
desk can do amazing things....

<<The headlines round-up, for example,
is no longer accompanied by a large Sky News logo,
which then zooms down to
DOG-size, zooming up again to full size at the end of
the round up.>>

Oh, you mean the back-half hour updates? Well you
won't be seeing many of those again for obvious
reasons! Last weekend we dropped them because nobody
was sure how we do them these days (the old profile
animation you speak of is no more).

<< The name of the programme no longer appears on
screen at the top of the hour, nor
does the announcer say it.>>

Sometimes there is a voice saying 'Live At Five' etc.
I think. I'm doing L@5 later so I'll try to remember
to see if there is a voice ident!

Where's that stuff from?

Anyone still the new advert starring Natasha Napalinsky - in my opinion it is tacky & makes her look stupid

Sky News has become more like Sky Sports News of late. Regular live updates from James Munro outside SW19. The presenters are also watching the action on the TV screens on the main studio desk!

BTW: both Sky & ITN use stand-up positions on the golf course opposite Wimbledon, because they aren't allowed into Wimbledon by the Beeb

It's the BBC getting their own back for the cricket I think.
That is from MHP chat today, a director at Sky News.

I haven't seen the new advert, what is it??
I actually quite like the 'World First' trailers now.

She is on a totally white background with newspapers & remotes flying round & she pretends to follow them round with her eyes.

You'll see it @ :15 probably. It's some ridiculous it's hard to describe.

Now here's an idea...
Interactive news trailers...

'Shoot the presenter!'

Is it just me, or have the astons on Sky News suddenly improved in the past couple of days? They seem to be much higher-res than before, and not so grubby looking!

Yeah, agree - the astons are looking good and I still love the Breaking News astons and the swoosh sound they make!
