Quite possibly the fastest growing thread ever.
Although that 'BBC down for 20 minutes even though none of us were watching it anyway we just like the little apology caption' thread would take some beating.
Are you okay Chesh? There was quite a few people watching the BBC channels at the time and your sarcasm at people liking apology captions is a bit annoying considering this is a presentation forum.

Yes, that would be really good! Picture the scene...

Kay: '..and those are the headlines this hour - now over to Jeremy in the Sky News garden'

Jeremy: 'Thankyou Kay. I'm joined now by Sky's gardening expert Roger McCabbage, who's going to show us his plums.'

I like it...

Yes, actually most of the forum was watching BBC ONE/TWO/NEWS 24/CHOICE/KNOWLEDGE and UKTV when they were off air. Thats why everyone was posting at once when something happened!!

Ok people... just a joke.

Square Eyes came up with a very amusing script for the Sky News Garden... can't exactly remember what it was but it involved Bob Friend and a deckchair and Kay Burley in the swimming pool.
Hilarious.

The ratings would surley rocket - now... there's a pun in there. Anyone spot it?

The stage for the videowall could be in the middle of a big pond, like on 2000 Today...

Seriously, though, does anyone actually have any insider gossip on the new look - or do I have to find a way to contain my excitement until Monday? Wink

Have a look at the showbiz section on Sky News Active - occasionally that is filmed from the newsroom and so they may give away a bit of what's to come.
I'm curious about this presenter move though.
Bob Friend hasn't been seen presenting since the election, it may be the case that he's retired? That's why Rogers is coming in to work with Kay and Jeremy will move to Today?
Just have to wait and find out, I suppose!

Can I just say (that, as mentioned in another thread, this is my first day of seeing Sky News) that their coverage, especially of the Hamilton news, is very entertaining, verging on hilarious.

Is it normally like this?

e.g. trying to get Max Clifford and Tony Isles to have a row on air; these long rambling interviews with the Hamiltons; Kay Burley constantly interrupting everybody etc.

I was very impressed at the speed they managed to get the Hamiltons, Clifford, et all, and get crews to the house and to various parts of London, and also that they put Christine Hamilton's interview outside the house on a loop on Sky News Active - however I'm still not entirely certain all the coverage was justified.

I am enjoying watching it though..

It would be a shame if Bob retired. And if Jeremy is on the move again, I wouldn't blame him for being a bit annoyed about it - he came 'indoors' to host the primetime slot, then was moved earlier to Live at 5 when News at Ten launched, and if he's moved to Today, that's not exactly a high-profile slot!

Still, I guess it could just be rotation - I remember when Frank Partridge was the permanent host of Live at Five with Selina Scott, but he's moved all over the place since.

I've tried looking at the showbiz bit on Active a few times, but all they ever have is voiceover stuff.

Clifford always goes on Sky News before any other network, not quite sure why.
The Hamiltons seem pretty fond of it too, although when Simon McCoy (anchor of Sunrise) made Christine cry she probably wasn't too keen on it!
Coverage of the Hamiltons... actually that should be The Hamiltons (they're a household name now), is justified, because like you said, it's always so funny.

Maybe Chris Rogers is about to present a more livelier Overnight news for the more younger viewers who come in from nightclubs. MAYBE EVEN A TALKSHOW! I was thinking team him up with one of the younger female newscasters.

They havent used the newsroom for the Showbiz reports on Active for quite some time, they have used some other parts of the Sky News Centre.

Hmmm... Interesting that Sky News were so ahead of the game (i.e. BBC / ITN) when it came to the Hamiltons dropped charges coverage.

Nothing to do with an article in tomorrow's Sun by any chance? Hmmm...

Could Sky News and News International (publishers of the Sun) be linked?
