I was speaking to someone at sky, the publicity and stills department, the graphix from digital spy are in fact the new graphix.

i wont name names, but i asked someone at sky for info, they sent me some images, said thats all they can do, as i am a media student, and high quality versions of the ones on digital spy.

So thats that.

What an absolute joke. Sky have had since June to sort themselves out with a decent set of graphics, it is beyond belief that all they've managed to come up with is a set that could've been done up in Powerpoint over a lunch break. Frankly pathetic.

Just what are Sky playing at? 'Sky News Flash', the most tacky pile of sh*te i've seen in a very long time. In comparison News 24's ugly purple astons look appealing.

I wonder, did any thought actually go into this relaunch or was it a case of an impusle purchase at Ikea? Yes, the new studio looks excellent but bloody hell, you'd think that in the year 2001 Sky would be able to come up with something a little more inventive than a red topped, white bottomed graphic. Tacky, shoddy, cheap, outdated. Everything the studio isn't.

Very dissapointing.

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!

This is very bad indeed! They did a nice new studio and now they've gone and spoilt it with rehashed graphics!

Please, I hope there are at least some variations in it!

I'm not looking forward to Sunday/Monday now, I just hope the music is better than the graphics.

MDTA - any chance of you posting the pictures here? I can now only hope that the pictures we've already seen are dreadful mock-up images and that the new ones look a great deal better on-screen. Will they be animated at all? Or just the same old slide in slide out style they've had since 1998?

Yes, I hope they do look slightly better on screen!

But how can it have taken three months to create them. They've probably even thinking of them longer than that!

Please, they could of at least thought of some graphics that actually fit in with the studio design!

Well if Sky wants to make all our eyes hut with these DREADFUL new graphics then who are we to argue with the fact that it will mean BBC News 24 getting more viewers!!! Very Happy

They are all ©Sky News and cannot be reproduced in any

It is actually quite risky. If these graphics are as bad on-screen as the pictures we've already looked at then a lot of people may turn off. I for one will not sit there with 'Sky News Flash' and 'Breaking News' written on the screen at the same time, very tacky and too sensationalist. BUT then again, we haven't seen the graphics on-screen, they may look good and we might all eat our words on Sunday morning.

But I doubt it.

On a sort of hopeful note, the election graphics- when integrated into the ticker etc- didn't look too bad, very nice IMO, just too white. So they may not be too bad, and if Sky introduce a little bit of animation to them then they might be half decent.

the text on the strap is WAY TOO BIG, if it was the same size as the clock it could work
and variations for other programmes.

Also weather and nine o clock news should be done on the videowall

Well, I for one wont be eagerly tuning in throughout Sunday to see when the 'new' look takes effect. It is after all hardly worth it. The gfx have been rehashed rather than redesigned. If they couldnt be arsed to do a proper job on the whole package it makes me wonder why they didnt just varnish the old desk, paint the walls and leave the studio as it was ! After all, thats the equivalent of what theyve done with the gfx isnt it !!

PS I forgot to say 'varnish the desk and paint the walls the SAME COLOUR as they were before....just change the brush stokes slightly' !!!

I think we're all being unfair here. I seem to remember the general concensus being that they were good at the beginning of the general election campaign, so what has changed? c@t, you yourself said that you expected them to be similar, just with a different shape to the blue/red bit at the top of the astons.

Let's give them a chance, eh? They're still better than the dire purple of News 24.
