Wasn't there a small clock on Sky's Election Active feature? It was bottom left, very small, curved grey box. No logo.

Well it isn't that sort of huge task.
They put the presenters in the temporary studio that is always there, away from the other studio.
They trash the old studio, put in the new one, put the presenters back... simple.

The current studio does have the newsroom behind it, and that glass is simply 'turned on' for news at ten.
I expect that the set will be open plan but as I have said ....

WE DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHETHER THEY ARE PLANNING TO RELAUNCH YET OR NOT, DO NOT GET TOO EXCITED

What temporary studio is this, where is it, and when was it last used?

The temporary studio in 1998 was the World studio (ie. news studio 2 with the monitor replaced with green to superimpose the newsroom. It did go wrong a few times though, with graphics on it by mistake.

That I believe will NOT be will logo

But isn't the world news set in the same studio as the main set? And, I thought that this world news set was introduced with the previous makeover

It was last used at the last relaunch...

There is more than one studio in Sky News Centre.
As for that design on my site, done by MDTA it has been shown to Sky News and they have said it is to look nothing at all like that.

They might not actually have a DOG.
Originally they had no DOG, just a logo that appeared every 15 mins and expanded to fill the screen for the headline updates.
Like the one below:

(Yes that is Penny Smith)

I certailny don't think the logo will look anything like what has been seen around here.
I have been in touch with Nick Pollard, head of Sky News and I am awaiting his response, so hopefully we will be able to clear up all of this confusion for good!

But is he likely to tell the truth anyway? You never know, they may think people at other tv/media design companies will nick the idea. And it could be a geniune concern. MDTA's idea might not be that far from the truth! Then again, it might just be me being cynical.

I reckon they'll have a small clock, like on the Election Active service as Asa said, and a logo based on the font used on everything else, in blue or red. They've grown rather fond of that font, I think it's Verdana but feel free to correct me, and they now use it for the Sky News Active trailers on the logo. Maybe...

I've just read somewhere (most of it is complete crap I think) that as part of the re-launch, there will only be headlines for sports news and, eventually business news, no in-depth reports, instead, they'll tell viewers 'for more sports news, tune into SkySports.comTV'. The site also says (i dont know about this) that sky are launching a business channel, Sky Business

I think it's guaranteed to have a DOG, in this multi-channel digital age, where branding seems to be more important than content these days.

I actually think that article is true.
Sky are firmly going to be news news news, and Sky Sports.com TV can provide them with more sports, and Sky Business will provide them with more business.
I expect that this approach will happen at the relaunch.
Incidentally where did you read about this?
No doubt a new DOG will arrive.
Also apparently last night at midnight they were testing out the new graphics equipment they have taken delivery of, with a smoother ident etc.

Read about it on Jim Edward's web site's forums under a Sky News Thread
