studios can be built in a matter of a few hours. it doesnt take long to pull the old set out and put a new one in. i wouldnt think sky would want to leave it to long as they will be aware that the graphics are out of place. who says they are not building a new studio in another room you just cant tell. when bbc relaunched n24 they didnt broadcast it to the world in fact most people were unaware of it relaunching. i only took a wild guess by the fact they were using bbc worlds studio and the fact that national news was different.

Ive just got a feeling that a relaunch is imminent. When it will be, I haven't got a clue, but I think it will be sooner rather than later...

I certailny do not doubt the fact that there will be a new studio etc within a month, but not sure it is monday.
And remember what we have been told, apparently this was to be a massive overhaul of everything with individual studios for different programmes, a large (1/2 the size of CNN) open plan studio.... this would take a lot longer than a weekend.
To be honest I seriously doubt that any of what we were told about this relaunch was infact the truth and it will just probably be an open plan studio with a desk, like the original version.
I find it increadibly hard to believe that there are going to be massive changes, i.e. along the size of News24's moves, but we will have to wait and see.

Sky are taking on a couple dozen more hacks to focus on 24-hr news.

hacks?
So far I have had 2 technical terms thrust under my nose tonight, I am very braindead from excessive Chemistry revision... excuse me whilst I am and jump out of a tree.... but what Is a hack?

And more to the point.. how exactly do you know.
I have drawn the conclusion that you do indeed work for BSkyB in some shape of form, am I correct?
Either that or you have the place bugged.
Explain for me.

I suppose you'd say that hack is the 'slang' term for journalist

You haven't answered my question.
How do you know?

Does it not strike anyone else that such a relaunch on a 24-hour channel involving moving to new studios, etc. would be pretty d*amn difficult?! They'd need duplicate people at each location for the change over, etc. unless they'd run the risk of not missing anything and repeating a previous hours' news (but I don't think they would).  It's surely a huge logistical operation to make the switch for such a channel, so I imagine they'll delay it as long as they need to, ensuring that the operation is meticulously planned before-hand.

Really, it's a waste of space, resources and money to have seperate studios/sets for each programme (unless the set is virtual, of course).  I wonder if any new Sky News set will still have the news room behind them like they have for the past 10 years, when Sky News first launched, the set was actually the newsroom, then after that had a seperate set with the newsroom on a window behind (is it actually behind them at the moment or is it a videoscreen like the BBC)

Well it isn't that sort of huge task.
They put the presenters in the temporary studio that is always there, away from the other studio.
They trash the old studio, put in the new one, put the presenters back... simple.

The current studio does have the newsroom behind it, and that glass is simply 'turned on' for news at ten.
I expect that the set will be open plan but as I have said ....

[B] WE DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHETHER THEY ARE PLANNING TO RELAUNCH YET OR NOT, DO NOT GET TOO EXCITED

Do you think that is an accurate look of the new sky news logo
