I hope those Sky Employees are hearing us about those straps, hopefully news at ten will make use of smaller ones.
It would be interesting to hear what they think of our comments...
I can send sky an fla file, with all my straps and dog ideas, i measured them all with broadcast standard safe areas, so they can go perfectly on screen.

I honestly can't see anything wrong. The astons fit in well with the other graphics. God, if News 24 had astons that filled up half of the screen, most of you would probably love them!
After watching a lot of Sky News today, I've grown to like it more and more. The music is absolutely brilliant! It reminds me of the oval-era Sky Movies Gold music almost.

That's rubbish Phil and you know it! I hate the Coming Up slides N24 has but at least it doesn't have to be over the top on the graphics. There is just no need to fill the screen with that sort of pointless information at that size. There's nothing wrong with neat and tidy that gives you what you want but not in a patronising way.
I wonder, will they change the colour of the little red tags? I expect they'll be a few changes, and I do wish they'd put that little spinning info 'i' back on the astons, it looked much better, although the text probably couldn't fit on. We'll probably find some variations appearing soon enough, but at the moment I think the whole channel looks very impressive, just a bit big. The break bumper thing is impressive, whereby they zoom into/out of the studio via the newsroom and the logo splits/joins whilst the music is played. But what's happened to the moving studio shots at the top of the hour? The always used to zoom in, and has the soft area been shown yet? I've not seen it.
That desk front must be fake - could they really change it so quickly? Or perhaps it's a bit like the CNN desk, where they stick panels on the front of it.

If you saw the bulletins through the night prior to the new look at 6am, then there were no wide shots at the top of the hour. Didn't want to show the front of the desk, obviously.
Also the camera angle was changed, so the presenter has moved over a little and had the bank of monitors as the background instead of the videowall. Again, probably for the modifications to put the new Sky News logo at the top.
I can't actually work out whether the front of the desk is real, it must be! If it was done with CSO then it would look dodgy from certain angles and if it was projected then it would be darker. I think its just a panel that goes over the front and is lit from inside, which makes it look nice and bright.
(Time to half-disagree with the whole forum, whoops!)
Why do you all adore the music? All they've done is stuck it down a semitone and shoved the tonic on the end. (For the non-musical types I'm referring to the 'der der der de derrrr' at the end).
The previous 'tempory' one was really good, and sounded different from other news channels, whereas the 'new' one goes back to the brass sound of the 1990s used everywhere. However, if there is a countdown as Asa half-suggests (which would surely make it much easier for them) it might all build up and sound better.
It's growing on me though!

I'm not convinced by the theory that they've cut the countdown to make up for the costs of covering the events in New York. Surely they'd just cut 30 seconds out of the end of the news at .55 every hour?
And is it me or is the font on the Sky News logo the one that Eurosport use?

BTW, the new Sky News music is once again from Frank Gari and Gari Communications. How do I know, if you hear very closely, there's a futuristic/tech ticker tape used in the open that's on the headline beds in Gari's American syndicated news packages.
