I like the new music, but I wish they'd be consistent in their use of the opening titles, rather than the apparent random use of wide shots and titles-on-the-newswall versus the original abrupt ending of the titles.
Though I think it works quite well when they have the presenters in vision at the start of the headlines, which I've seen once or twice recently.
Yes, I don't think the abrupt ending works at all. I don't think there's ever been a time before when Sky haven't used a wide shot at the start of bulletins, and now certainly isn't the time to start! The first time I saw it I thought they might be using a cso studio or something, but obviously that's not the case...
i'm not sure if this has been mentioned on the forum elsewhere yet, but the Sunday with Adam Boulton Title Music has changed to match the channel identity.
It's a lot more authoritative than the piece of music which was used last week.
I heard the new music today - the previous track had a certain cheeseyness to it, that matched the titles.
This track is terrible - again, like the new Sky News theme, it doesn't match the visuals.
One has to question the intellect of those at Sky - this music relaunch has been in the pipelines for a while, so why didn't they create the titles for Sunday, with the new style of music in mind?
Do average viewers (ie NOT people in this forum, myself included) think: Oh I love that news channel because of it's music?????
I doubt they do, but I have heard quite a few people say 'oh that sounds wrong', 'why did they change that' etc whilst watching Sky News since they changed it.
My family dont notice anything that changes. I dont think they pay that much attention. They didnt notice sky news' music had changed, they didnt notice that itv1's idents had changed, and had never commented on the lack of sound on five's idents and questioning why it was just people weeding and playing ball, etc. until recently, over a year since they were introduced!
An amusing newspaper review tonight, with Topaz Amoore revealing that Gordon Brown is a fan of the Sky News paper review. Topaz also sent a glass of water crashing to the floor, splashing Bob Friend's trousers in the process.
