Yes, but it's still copyright violation and not really different at all. It's just that one form is justified for irrational reasons, and the other isn't for reasons just as arbitrary.

The other music has acknowledged copyrights, where as library music is owned by the original composers, and even broadcasters must license and pay for its use, it is a unique position...

Actually, in education, copyright law is different. You allowed to reproduce a certain number of pages from pretty much any document.
Could the same reasons be cited for any type of resource, rather than specific random types of resource, like you have implied?
For example, if a website full of captured idents exists for "educational" purposes, couldn't a website of library music exist for "education" purposes too?

The new themes sound very US news-y. Something i'd expect from CNN/us or MSNBC, the serious, established networks.
Maybe, Sky News, being the most established news network in the UK, are trying that approach.
I'm not so sure about the theme myself, I think that it sounds far more serious and newsish than what they offered previous, but it simply doesn't match the current on-screen look, and they definatly need to split the schedule up again;
Sunrise
SNT

News @ 10
maybe even an early morning business report or something like that??
Lets hope they update all these things soon, and not leave the channel in the half-baked presentation appearance it has now.

ooooh, i really don't like that "cut to camera" after the sharp end to the intro, it's quite frankly, poor production.
JP
It just seems.... not finished.
If you get what I mean.
BTW How many more times can Sky say f**k tonight?
