Can anyone explain why Sky News at Midnight - every night - uses a different top-of-hour sequence from the rest of the day.  I cannot help but cringe when...

a)  The date on the COMING UP graphic isn't aligned properly.

b)  They abruptly ditch the music bed just before the presenter reads the headlines, then play a version that doesn't work with the end-of-sequence tail.

c)  It's screwed up.  On more than a few occasions it's been botched.  The heads were read without music last week.

Is it just a different producer that doesn't know any better, or is there a technical restriction which forces them to do this.

Oh, and I also think that although the new music is a lot better than the old, the top-of-hour sequence tail (just before 'Sky News with..' ) doesn't work.  It would be much better coming in from the drum rolls.

Anorak is now fully zipped!

I've noticed that Sky's clock flicks from 11:59pm to 0:00am, on both Sky Digital and Sky News. This isn't right. It should go straight to 12:00am. It only needs to go to 0:00 if it is a 24 hour clock.

Could be something to do with the 0:00:00 midnight bug

I think the fact the countdown page is different is because overnight the team in the gallery is smaller and, during the day, the headlines and things are written by a producer who is not there overnight so an automatic sequence is used....

Indeed, a different team is on overnight and for some reason they don't use the right beds. You think someone would tell them. Smile

I can understand the menu, but the headline bed sounds awful and cutd off the menu and then it never start at the beginning. How annoying!

I hope all this goes after the relaunch.

Does anyone think that maybe overnight might be the right time for sky news to show live programmes because the current overnight news is a disaster maybe they should use this sort of schedule:

12.00am Nightwatch
12.30am World News Live
1.00am Nightwatch
1.30am USA Today Live
2.00am Talkback (your call) Live ( or just at 2.30am)
3.00am Nightwatch Live
4.00am Nightwatch
4.30am CBS Evening News
and then maybe sunrise at 5.00am
