Sky don't need anything that size, no.
But what you have to remember is, this is Sky.
They will do anything to get one over on the competition - and if that means the largest videowall - that's what they'll build!
Cannot see how they will fit it into the newsroom, because if the largest videowall in Europe can fit in there, then obviously other European broadcasters have never heard of videowalls!

Bob Friend is indeed a great loss, although nothing has been annouced of his departure - although I expect it was after the election happened.
Bob was the greatest news anchor I've ever seen, and suited Sky News perfectly. Although, like I said, we've heard very little of his departure (if indeed he has departed).
When Bernard Shaw (the Bob Friend equivalent at CNN) left, there was a big party and although the party didn't go quite as planned... it was well known that he'd left CNN.
Just seems a little too hard to be true, ditching your most well known presenter and not saying a word...

Maybe they've decided to incorporate him into the new set?

Are you sure Bob's gone? Becuase I swear I heard him say he was going on a 5-week holiday back in July.

But he's been off at least since the beginning of July and five weeks from that would make mid-August.....

Perhaps a short paragraph or two introducing Bob Friend for those of us who have never seen him before..?

Thanks,

Something we have overlooked... Sky have a list of all presenters on their website. It's obviously kept up to date because Emiliy Maitlis has been removed - now presenter of the new BBC London news programme.
Bob is still on the list...

I hope to God Bob Will remain and stay with Anna, it would be good to see him back at the 8-12pm slot. Did you see him do the Newspaper review with Simon Bates, (funny as hell).

William - an introduction to Bob Friend

If you want his proper profile go to the Sky News webpage and click on 'On Air' then 'Presenters'

What you need to know is - a cross between Henry Davenport from Drop the dead donkey and the late cricket commentator Brian Johnston.

He is funny and irreverent - There are definately times when you realise he disagrees with the story he is reporting Smile

All the best,

Henry

Just out of interest - Kay Burley and Chris Rogers were presenting together today at lunchtime and into the afternoon... they actually seemed to pair up quite well!

They were also covering a tow truck chase in LA on Fox News for much of the early afternoon and showing it in big chunks with them talking over it - some of the commentary they were giving was very funny! Are they trying to get us used to the Fox News style?! - will the new Sky News be following car chases around London every 30 minutes!!

They are hillarious!!! One comment was when Chris called the 5 police cars panda cars, and Kay remarked how British he was, then they were laughing...

to those who are interested here is an image from the live coverage, its a Fox News Alert

It is really funny - and still going on! They put England press conference on split screen with sound on that with the truck on as well.... that works well!

Chris Rogers is best doing this sort of adlib I think...
