So it is quite a major re-launch according to what you say. It was believed at first to just be a logo and set change.

What, if there is one, will the 'soft' area look like, and what will it be used for?

Sounds all very exciting!

How will the opening sequence begin then?
By this I mean, before they had the little sting with the V/O guy saying the name of the programme and a camera with the shot of the two presenters. Will the opening sequence on the hour zoom in from the newsroom - so you can see the studio through the glass wall - if you see what I mean?

Also - how big is the newsroom?
From what I saw of it, it isn't massive - how has the videowall fitted in there? Or have you extended the newsroom a bit?
Also - will there be a soft area or is there to be a focus on news, and only news?
And are there any other studios, other than the main desk - i.e. a special studio for Sunrise, for example?

Certainly sounds very interesting - I think we'll let them off for the long delay

Probably a little early to say, but do they intend to relaunch at 6am or something like 4pm?

'Live from Sky Centre' - very american but all the info sounds really good. Just over two weeks to go now - but I won't see it... I'm very upset!! Sounds brilliant!

Sounds very similar to sky sports news, I think they say 'from the sky sports centre, This is Sky Sports... News.'

Then they zoom out of the centre in the background and fade into the front set with the desk.

So all very interesting, i dont suppose you could tell us names of fonts being used and even a quick sketch as to what a typical screen would look like with BUGS STRAPS etc.

It would help us all to realise what we should expect

There will be no seperate set for the programmes but the lighting / video wall / keyd floor / astons / bugs will changes between programmes.

So the countdown timer will remain by the sound of it ? Will it be a similar digital milisecond type counter like it is currently ? Also will the main Sky News logo shown on the hour be 3D animated at all like its previous incarnations ?

Also with regards to the on screen appearance, Sky News has been plagued by an obsession with 'curvy edges' to all of the OSGs since the election (including the unforgivable rounded-edge map of the UK used to track the part leaders' travels during the campaign). These look very nasty in comparison for example to the new Sky Sports OSGs used during football coverage. Is the 'curvy edged' theme to continue in the new OSGs or are Sky News going for a different look ?

yes the logo at the top of the hour will be 3-d,

the curvy edges will be banished...

and the countdown clock will remian with the digital milisecond counter...

Back to the 3D logo - how will this animate ? (For example in 1993 the multi channel relaunch had a glassy 3D 'Sky' passing back into a surrounding circle then the 'NEWS' bit came in from the side.

Also - should we expect any corporate changes to the existing Sky One/Sports/Premier/Moviemax logos to tie in with the Sky News change ? I ask this as the new logo which MDTA posted appears to use the corporate 'Sky' lettering as opposed to the block capital lettering currently used on the NEWS/ONE/SPORTS logos ?

Could you give us a bit more of a detailed secription on the astons/graphics? Will the astons take up the whole of the bottom of the screen, what colors will they be, will the animation for it be like CNN/U.S. etc. Will the existing graphics (the light-blue-green globe on a white bg) be kept.
