I remember watching a new look sky news international replacing sky world news. I remember Frank Partridge saying that the email address probably going to be changed. It suddenly disappeared without trace or reason. What happened to it?
I've got the video of the ident and will be uploading it shortly.
Basically, Sky really hyped up the launch of International, saying it would be a fast paced show etc etc.
It wasn't.
It was just World News, only it looked awful, really dreadful.
Sky got so many complaints about International that they decided to bring back World News, albeit with a changed look.
It also did not fit in with the rest of the channel in any way and they had probably decided that they were going to relaunch by then anyway, so just trashed it.
I will have the video up as soon as I finished the Sky News part of my site.

I thought it was a catchy theme? Sky world news has been there for too long and the presenter at the side with the video screen is too boring. Maybe if they put a giant globe background and zoom in at the location of the report then put up the picture on the top right hand corner it might add up a bit of zest.

Once the new show went on air, Nick Pollard said that he didn't like it.

Different astons were used for the programme. Yet the information astons
BREAKING NEWS, MIDDLE EAST VIOLENCE, etc just used the standard look.
I wonder what Sky News Australia will do for a new ident?
Sky News and Sky News Oz always have virtually identical idents, but obviously Sky News Oz can't put 'In 40 countries'!
Or perhaps they will do their own thing? But it would look very odd to Australia viewers who join Sky News UK at 6pm every day to see this massive studio and different logo and music etc!
Sky have no plans, they say, to launch a European Sky News, although obviously Sky News itself has massive penetration across Europe, so perhaps there isn't a need for it.
They refused to comment on Sky News Eire/Ireland if you prefer, so perhaps this is in the pipeline to rival RTÉ's new news channel that should be arriving soon.
Who knows.

The Eire version only has different ads. Sky don't even have a Dublin bureau (not since John Gilbert, who moved to channel 5).
I think the Dublin office still exists but nobody is there anymore.
I have never understood Sky with buerau, they open them up, use them for a few years and close them down again! It's just stupid.
They probably had more offices in 1997 then in 2001.
There is an Eire version, which does have different ads but there is potential for Sky Ventures to launch an Irish news channel.
Sky have never had any offices in Sydney but managed to launch Sky News Oz perfectly well, just because Murdoch is from Oz means nothing.
He is now an American citizen so that doesn't really matter!
How many home-grown programmes do SN A actually make? Every time I have seen it, they simply link up with London. It seems strange to make a separate news channel with just a few hours of their own programmes, or am I wrong?
Also, how is Sky World News transmitted across the world? Where can it be seen ?
It's funny if you look at the schedule for Fox News today, there is just about 4 hours of news on, that's it!
SN A make quite a lot of their own stuff, but as you can see they are only running in 30 mins blocks, which is just stupid! They need an hour long show, the anchors are some of the best on TV, stolen from national news etc yet they will not do a 30 min show and never have two anchors.
Sky News Australia was actually mentioned on Sky News this week (a very, very rare event). The coverage of the missing Brit near Alice Springs, included anchor saying words to the effect of: 'For the latest we now join Brian Thompson [a scot, by the way] of Sky News Australia'. All packages were done from London though, unlike the Beeb who had their own people filing there.
