SkyNews
So now YOU'VE seen it. From the 1st time I saw it, I thought it looked awful, but its a limited budget. It looks very cheap having a fully virtual reality studio & its very small. Y2K studio was MUCH better.
BBC's & ITN's are much better. BUT Sky News will have the BEST coverage. http://ww.sky.com/news have got continuing results. Sky as a small broadcaster are still managing over 100 broadcasts
I note the Sky News website says they'll have a live stream during the programme. As far as I know this is the first time they've attempted this since the (slightly disasterous) 24/7 feed of Sky news they did about a year ago - which always kept breaking down and eventually they removed altogether.
That said it will be nice to be able to watch Sky online and compare their coverage against the rest (I have ondigital, sadly).
I have only seen previews of the set and it looks okish.
I expect it will be better once they actually start the coverage.
At first I was very impressed but only caught a glimpse of it.
The budget is obviously limited, it would be pointless to spend thousands on totally new graphics for the election only to have to re-design them again for when the new studio launches!
Still, the programme is 22 hours so there is plenty of coverage.
Incidentally Sky hold the international record for the longest ever continuous results programme in history (1992).
They will be the first to annouce the winner as they always have been and have more outside broadcasts than ever.
I haven't seen the full studio yet so I really can't comment, I will be back online a while later so will give you my good/bad reactions to it.
Interesting to see what CNNi are planning.
I think the OB thing is a bit of a farce really, the OB's on the night don't really provide that much info at all it is only the results people want and they come up on all of the wires as soon as they are annouced (the PA will have people in every place probably, as will ITV)
Looking at the last election Sky was the best in terms of coverage and I am very excited about the SN Active service, especially the behind the scenes section, sounds great.
I expect that Sky are enlisting the help of Sky Sports journos as well, although not sure about that one.
The programme is going to be good either way, especially as it is 22 hours - plenty of time to talk about lots of things!!
Look for the peaks and the troughs of the night.
The biggest trough they had last time was leaving the camera on 10 Downing Street's closed door for a full 2 mins.
Very boring!

They always have live feeds of the budget, and the first did it during the Concorde Crash.
The 24/7 thing was crap and never worked!
