Its been there since mid morning, and they fade it out at the top of the hour for the 30-second countodwn and the headlines -
and, for the record, I think it looks absolutely dreadful (font is different size, takes up too much of the screen, 'UK' and 'NZ' labels look odd, etc.)
If they insist on having a second clock, I think they should either:
(a) copy Bloomberg (504 on Sky Digital EPG) and have one clock which flips between UK and New York time
(b) stick the New York clock on the right hand side of the screen opposite the other one, given that all their foreign video has appeared on the right and the UK material on the left.

they bring up a clock with the time from New York, whenever they have a live coverage from New York

I think as 24 Hour rescue attempts are ongoing, its good to see their time when looking at live video from NY.
