We weren't really expecting anything special.

Yes, it was the old relaunch date, but if they are going to do it, we might as well let them get it right. Smile

I'm just wondering, do you think that they are doing the weather from the new video wall? There is a distinct shadow which suggests this, although I haven't seen a full bulletin yet, I've only seen forecasts on Active.

I thought about that too but, if the video wall is in the newsroom, wouldn't we be able to hear lots of background noise, like on News 24?

Nah it's not a videowall, you would be able to tell if it was because the picture would not be anywhere near as good.
If you look at the weather when it's on the 6 o'clock news, done from that small plasma screen, that doesn't look as good as when it's done from chromakey.
The videowall (I think) will likely be a massive set of plasma screens, so the picture wouldn't look as sharp as it does at the moment.
And as Mar said, there would be a lot of noise in the background.
If you get chance, watch CNBC tomorrow from about 1pm, they do the weather from the videowall, I presume this is what Sky are planning.

Has anybody noticed that shot of what looks like the sky news newsroom on active showbiz?

What? The new one??! Unfortunately my Dad is currently watching Discovery Home & Leisure +1, so I'll have to wait!

By the way, just to scaremonger, has anyone considered that, if the new studio/newsroom is open-plan, we should technically be able to hear background noise while they're broadcasting from the temp set, seeing as it's in the new studio, but we can't... Wink
