At this moment, Plain - but on screen - Shiny.

The new[er] titles are better, but the SKY /|/ news bit should separate in the middle as before, instead of going into 'n'.

Well, I don't think Frank Partridge is a one of the best presenters Sky have, but he is good nevertheless, he is a bit jumpy, he can't seem to stop jumping and moving in his chair, and he either forgets what to say or just babbles on when another presenter can say what he is saying using less words.

Then again, he is probably very different off-air.

No, I've never been a big Frank fan either to be frank (sorry!). But he seems quite good at what he does - obviously not as good as Kay but then I am biased...

I hear Frank is lovely - I don't hear the same about Ms Burley!

I think you may well be right there.

Kay is a great presenter and really good at what she does - as is Frank - but you do get the impression that she's a bit... short tempered. Or perhaps like a little school kid who goes to snitch on someone who's not really done any harm. I could be totally wrong, you only see their on-screen personalities and they are more often than not totally different away from the cameras, but there's just something about running crying to the boss that makes you a bit... hmm.

Anyway, I'm sure it was nothing too serious, they're both adults for god's sake.

Spot on me thinks, she IS an excellent broadcaster and you get the impression she does know her news BUT if you'll forgive me the name for a female dog springs to mind.

Yes but in all her e-mails and letters Kay seems really friendly... and hopefully, soon, those who entered the YoungJournalists.com competition and myself may get the chance to meet her and go to Sky News (sorry this has been delayed if you entered - but you know the competition was set up just before September 11 and we know how world events are now!)

Does anyone here work at Sky News then? What's the story?

Rumour has it that the dragon followed Mr. Partridge into the male dressing room to continue the argument they were having about the sign off at the end of the programme, Frank jestured that she should leave the room but the back of his hand brushed against the evil ginger one as he did so. Ms Burley then cries foul and informs the Daily Mirror etc.

Yes, it seems what has just been said is backed up by Media Guardian:

Newscasters are more used to reading the headlines than making them, but Sky News co-hosts Frank Partridge and Kay Burley find themselves at the centre of the story today after an off-camera altercation.

Sky bosses have launched an investigation after a row outside the studio where they had been broadcasting on Tuesday evening.

In true Drop the Dead Donkey style, it is claimed that an argument began over who should have the last word in the links between news items. To add frisson to the story, the pair used to be romantically involved; but Sky News sources stressed that was in the past and the argument was about professional rather than personal matters.

After the row, Burley was described as 'visibly upset'. She raised the issue with Sky's head of news, Nick Pollard.

A Sky News spokesman confirmed there had been an 'altercation' at the channel's headquarters in Osterley, south-west London, and that further action was being considered. 'Sky executives have spoken with the employees and are considering what - if any - action to take,' the spokesman said.

Partridge said last night: 'I cannot comment. I am sorry, I know you have to ask but I have been instructed not to comment. There is a compulsory process.'

Burley and Partridge anchor the 24-hour network's afternoon and early evening bulletins. Burley, who was on air when the twin towers of the World Trade Centre were struck on September 11, is known for her coolness at times of crisis and is one of the main faces of the channel. She is one of the longest-serving news presenters at Sky, having joined in 1988.

She has been in the news before, when she was the subject of gossip column comment about cosmetic surgery to removed bags under her eyes.

Before joining Sky News in 1993, Partridge, 46, was the main presenter of Radio 1's Newsbeat. He is also a former BBC sports correspondent, and presented Radio 4's afternoon news programme, PM.

Sky News is known to be a particularly competitive place. The atmosphere in the newsroom is said to be 'macho' and occasionally aggressive. In 1993 Sky sacked a presenter, Scott Chisholm, after a fight with fellow host Chris Mann.

Burley and Partridge have only presented together since a recent Sky News revamp. The Sky spokesman confirmed the pair used to 'date', but insiders confirm the argument was about professional matters.

So all over who gets the last word.... blimey!
