Everyone is always saying 'News 24 has the best service...' or 'Sky News always has the best coverage...' but which station really is the best? News 24 and Sky News fans can battle it out here...
Sky News for me, it has great idents and better captions and of course an interactiv service, BBC News 24 is a bit boring for me, with their static purple astons, and 1950's style hairdos!
Here we go again, cue me saying 'I prefer News 24' and cue Cheshirec giving a million & one reasons why Sky News is the greatest. Dejavu ?

I'd prefer ITN if it had a minor revamp with new astons and that. But until then, it's got to be Sky News.
i think the only minor problem with news 24 is the presenters need to lose their typical british stiff upper lip. it doesnt feel very relaxing to watch when they dont talk or joke with each other. some presenters are ok but some just take it too seriously. Chris lowe is excellent as he is serious about the news and very friendly and relaxed at other times. id love it on one saturday if he won the lottery. if you watch n24 you will know what i mean.

I think that Sky News often has the best reporting team, and thus the better news stories. You often do 'hear it first' with Sky News, but this is because they have a much higher budget - Sky News is payed for mainly by advertising (with 4x 5minute ad breaks per hour, <mainly Claims Direct and Lombard!!>), and partly by the Murdoch Shilling. This means they can afford the better journalists and can offer anchors more for their work.
The BBC, however, has been in the News game some 60 years longer than Sky, and it shows - a much superior output through and through. However, because N24 is paid for by the £3 p.a. increase on the TV Licence, it cannot afford to be so extravagant, and so cannot afford the better journalism teams.
Overall I prefer News 24 because the quality of the news is
nearly
always far higher than that of Sky News. I like the new-look to Sky News, but I do feel that the constant whiteness everywhere leaves a very cold look.
What does everyone else think?

I have to say there isn't really anything rolling about either Sky News or BBC News 24. The ITN Channel is IMHO the only true rolling news channel in the UK.

I'm saying NEITHER!
I'm with Anne Robinson on this one, I hate 24hr News Channels! I don't like the repetitiveness (lack of dictionary - sorry) of the news being broadcast.
I do, however, love (like all of you do) looking at programme is made, with astons, and backgrounds. (chairs, desks, themes etc.)
I have seen Sky's new look (partial new look!) and I will be moving over their side, as it is more - well, better!
BBC NEWS 24 lacks imagination now, I hate the current BBC NEWS look. (apart from Newsline, which has funky music!)
SKY NEWS is far better. With better presenters.
ITN News Channel, well I don't get that, so I cannot comment.

FACTS:
Sky News costs around £25m per year
BBC News 24 costs around £50m per year
Sky News costs around £25m per year
BBC News 24 costs around £50m per year
Figures can say what you want them to say ... does the Sky figure include the cost of the building/studio costs etc etc or are they in the generic Sky costs .. the News 24 figure (which I think is nearer 30 than 50) includes all those costs.
