No sh!t sherlock!
Sorry, but it's pretty obvious that Littlejohn is testing the water for more. It's regression if you ask me.
Fox don't just do The O'Reilly Factor
So is this an indication their will be Sky News versions of programmes like The Big Story, Special Report (politics show), and Hannity & Colmes?
Some of those might be alright...

I don't think you should associate "going in the Fox direction" with "becoming institutionally right wing".
Sky is not, and can not, become Fox. Fox was built on the principles of being a Republican-supporting operation; Sky wasn't.
Sky's key talent is its ability to produce live, interesting, rolling news - it outshines its competitors in every respect in that line of programming. Sky News Today is without doubt the most interesting, intelligent, watchable 3 hours of news on television today; I think Sky themselves know that too.
As much as I hate the (actually increadibly tedious and not remotely hard-hitting) Littlejohn show, I don't think the intention at Sky is to take it anywhere close to being as overtly politically vocal as Fox.
Fox can't seperate news from opinion; I only hope that if Sky do go down the road of more opinion programming, they manage to maintain a stopgap.
In related info: new look "Sky News First" promos out today. Red and blue (obviously), and look pretty snazzy.

But Hannity and Colmes was based on Sky's "Target" show. It ran for almost a decade (89-9
and then was killed.

May be nothing, but some sort of expectation of something, are they playing with the graphics today?
The straps have been up and down like a yo-yo and the text is differently styled/aligned, the "Pictures from" bug is different too.
Well, we will see anyway.
If January is the launch for this new Irish programme, I can't see them going to air with that using just the standard graphics set.

The Info straps seem crisper, the text smaller and the animation faster.
The normal Straps seem crisper also

And what happened to the news summary at the start of Sunday with Adam Boulton? I don't think they went back to the Sky Centre until about 10.40

Can't say I noticed any different animations or anything - just that the straps that are usually used on reports usually look a very dark blue and the text in the same size/style (ie. all bold). Today the straps on reports look like the ones they use for live interviews - brighter, bold text on top, thin on bottom, and a light blue rather than dark. Bit sad to have noticed, but this is TV Forum after all.
Just made me think that perhaps they were running it from another gallery or something, especially as the straps were coming in and out badly. Sometimes fading, sometimes just flashing or snapping up and sometimes coming up at totally the wrong time.
Shouldn't read too much into it, I don't think.

I should imagine they are having/had difficulties with their graphics server or something. If there are graphics changes planned, then they will no doubt just happen.
I don't know if the new graphics are going to be anything like those used on the new style promo's???
One thing I did think, it probably won't be that long before the decorators are in at Isleworth to tweek the newsroom. The intention being to make it more like the new westminster newsroom with harsh blues and reds. It is looking a bit tired these days and dark, is there not any kind of working environment legislation that prevents the poor Sky News employees working in such a dark newsroom. Somebody put some lights on.
Also...why do we not hear that fantasic fanfare cut of the new theme tune outside Sky News Today, its to fab to restrict it to that.

I didn't think it was that dark when I sat in there having a chat with a Groovy Peep (where Martin perches on the desk during SNT). The lighting is just right to work with computers, but a little bit too dark for a TV camera. You can't have it too bright so it looks OK on screen or nobody will be able to read the screens properly anyway.
It's certainly smaller than I thought it was...
