Hope so!

I'm actually getting impatient now! I hope a new logo is going to come with the new studio. The current one looks out of place!

Over the last few days they've been recording bits and pieces for when they're in the temporary studio. From what they've recorded (wide shots and bits of newsroom background, without the chairs), it would seem that the temporary studio will be all virtual.
During the last re-vamp they used a small version of the set with no soft-area. Though if they use the same temporary studio again there'll be no room for a soft-area.

Some of the overnight stuff has come from the soft area while they've been recording the virtual stuff.

Simon, you do work for Sky right?
A virtual studio sounds interesting, all of the presenters have got used to VR because of the various VR events Sky have done over the past few years.
Come on Simon, what sort of new studio is this going to be?
You obviously work for them, I mean they don't give that sort of info out to anyone, although you do say 'they', suggesting that 'they' are not something you are related to.
Still a virtual version of the current studio sounds very interesting..... When is it going to happen then Si?

I honestly don't work for Sky, but am well connected you might say. This also means that I haven't a clue what the new look is like. Though as someone else said, many of the staff don't know about things until they've happened. When the bumpers for the weather forecasts changed, Hazel Murray didn't know until she saw them on the monitor on her first forecast of the evening!!

Virtual isn't probably as grand as it sounds, it's just a way of having the newsroom background, when the newsroom isn't really behind the presenters. But you could do wideshots that virtually without having to move anything but the desk that they use now.

So I presume the relaunch is definetly ready then?

The thing still getting to me is that Sky haven't actually said ANYTHING yet.
Last time they released a statement, although at the time of release the presenters were already in the temp. studios, so perhaps a statement is to be released later this week.
It just seems a little odd that most of the news coming out about this relaunch is simply gossip, and has probably been hyped up.
It may well be the case that the relaunch is not that grand after all and that they simply re-fit the current studios, oops tempting fate...
Although how you can tempt fate I do not understand.

They are still in the main studio tonight but they have changed the on-screen weather ticker. It used to be in the old style but they removed it and now is in the new style with curves and blue etc.

I know that this is not very significant but surely small consmetic changes like this must mean the relaunch is close?

Also, I don't care when it happens. I just want to know is it going to happen and when?
Even if they said Christmas at least we would all know how long we had to wait and we would know it is going to happen!

OK, I was gonna ask this yesterday, but I thought it was just me.....

What is that bleeping noise every so often??????

It's just a short bleep, but I've heard it 3 times now just while typing this.

And are those the new on-screen graphics and theme tune???? the tune is poor as I already said (IMHO) and the graphics look like they've been knocked up on a Spectrum, I'm sorry, but they do, again JMHO!!!!

If this is it, I'm gonna move to N24 after 4 years of watching Sky.

James, as far as I know the relaunch will take place on Monday.
Think about it for a second.
It is the last Book Show on the weekend... so SOMETHING has to happen within that week, otherwise what would they fill the BS gap with? They have already started planning for the VR studios so they are obviously planning to move out some time soon.
Wait for the weekend.
Friday evening/night I would expect the studio move, if not then it will certainly be sometime within next week.

strange idea now...

If the temporary studio is modeled on the existing studio they may all ready be using it!!!!!!!

LOL!

Thats a thought! They may of ACTUALLY moved the studio! Hence the temporary studio the other night!

Not very likely though! It would be a good idea and it wouldn't give anything away but usually when rebrands happen they build a new studio somewhere else and stay in the old one until they are ready to move.

hmm... I recon we would have noticed by now but that is a weird thought!!!
I'm sure we will notice when the background starts looking a bit too computer generated!
