Newsonline2001 stated that sky news is getting an overhaul, yet i can see no sign of this. With what looks like an expensive advertising campaign with the orignal idents etc, and the fact that it was only recently that the sky news active service was over hauled, so its looking unlikely any time soon. Shame, i think the orignal idents and graphics are outdated now.

Very outdated, what has suprised me is that CNN has had their logo since 1980 yet it still looks good.
I think most of the channel is now outdated.
I spoke to the person who runs the site and he said that because he works in the media he has heard a rumour.
I know the website has relaunched and the colour scheme does not at all fit in with the current logo.
And the fact that Sky have changed their logo and have started re-braning channels with the new one (see sky Travel or Sky.com) is a strong indication.
The studio now looks dated (considering it was called 'uncluttered' in 1998!) and the presenters were talking about an extension the other day.
Listen to Kay Burley, she let slip the date of the last 2 relaunches and the launch of Sky News Active.
And Sky News Active has not been overhauled recently, in fact it has hardly changed at all since launch in terms of design, only the vote feature has been added and the version has been updated to 16.
There is a 'phase 2' planned for News Active, which would add other services such as World News Video, UK Video and Parliament Video, so I expect that it will be changed soon, and to be honest it doesn't take that much to change it, it is similar to redoing a website, and all of the stuff is uploaded by the internet anyway.

id love to see sky news get an overhaul, i do not think there current studio and graphics does there news operation justice. Id also like to see what they would do in the mean time if the studio was redecorated. I know last time they moved to temporary studios, but i missed that, because i was out of the country, i also missed the new look before that. Please any producers at sky who have read this thread, please do it now, give us all a treat.
By the way, where did you here about an extension, and what was the context cheshirec?

They were talking about the fact that Robbie Williams was going to pay for an extension to his old school with the money raised for an auction of some of his stuff.
Then, apparently (I didn't see it I heard it on another forum), Kay Burley said 'We could do with an extension in here' (or something like that) to which co-anchor Jeremy replied.. 'Well, you never know...' (In a sort of coy style).
Last time they moved to a temporary studio, and they would do the same again, it is just a small studio with a little map of the world behind the presenter, and a couple of TV's with the logo on it.
You can see all of the previous looks (except the 95-97) on home.clara.net/jim.edwards
The 95-97 look is on tv ark, or it will be when they re-launch it.
Sky News Australia incidentally has quite a nice studio.
It's purple and quite good, and looks nothing at all like the one we see over here.
And I would agree, it certainly does not do them justice at all. However, if you ever saw the CNN studio before the revamp it was a similar story.
It was horrible and tacky, however, they spent a fortune and it now looks amazing.
Hopefully, Sky will do the same.

I agree, the new cnn studio is highly impresive, les hope sky does the same. Is it true hat sky news ha a seperate news room for world news?, i just find it hard to fathom how they fit all there news staff in that tiny newsroom.

Actually the newsroom is far bigger than it looks, it is a very bad shot of it from the studio, and it is actualy quite big.
Although they do have different rooms, for different parts.
So not everyone is located in the main news room, a lot of them work in different areas of the building.
I would imagine that they will totally redo the news rooms, like CNN did, and then have it opened out, like they did at launch.
Incidentally if you saw the newsroom at launch, it was very big.
