More than a passing similarity?

The Sky Movies 1 ident this afternoon was in light blue, the new colour for the generic Sky Movies. I think this is a nice change but not very movie like, I see that Cinema have kept on the same theme with hollywood stars being formed in the idents.

One of the idents seems to have music which was very familar to one of the 1999 Carlton idents.

I've just seen three idents in succession - the same one for all three films, though don't know what the films were so can't say if they fitted the "mood". It was also the same music as already posted for them but this time they were in grey.

Also saw a couple of trailers; some of them had a rollercoaster background for the astons all the way through; some only at the end. It doesn't matter really: either way they looked rubbish.

Same for the idents and the music; I couldn't care less what it's meant to symbolise. All I know is it's the biggest backward step since ITV1.

Why is there nobody raving on at how fantasic this new look is ? Or is it that the new look is distinctly average ?

Sky Movie channels have had some of the best idents on screen of late, so what happened here then ?

I have yet to see any actual idents yet. I do think that from the look of those SKYmovies 2 images, that its a shame we have lost the previous idents (premier ident and cinema, not max).

Whether or not these idents are bad, is another matter...

Without seeing the new idents on screen, it's hard to comment, but it dosen't look good!

does anyone have any images or video of the other ident colours and the SKYcinema idents?

in a related note, can anyone tell me the name of the font which is now used instead of eurostyle by SKYmovies. (incidently, its the same font used by SKY box office).

Looks like Arial to me?

If only that was arial! I cant say it looks like arial, but I would think its one of their own fonts. I quite like the font they use in the Sky Mag. They seem to have different versions of the main font they use. They all look similar but different.

Well good ole NTL Digital here in Dublin was quick off the ball, they have all the sky movie channels in the correct order running from EPG #301 upwards.
