On all the Sky branded channels I've watched, the DOG only shows briefly, even Game of Thrones on Sky Atlantic doesn't have it throughout and that's the biggest show they have.

They're inconsistent about it. Whenever I've watched Sky1 they've always faded the DOG off, but recently on Sky Living it's been on permanently. Similarly a year or so ago it started appearing on Sky Arts again, but I haven't seen it since.
If you watch on +1 however, the '+1' DOG is always there on the opposite side of the screen, whether the main logo is on permanently or not.

Admittedly Living is the channel I rarely ever watch to notice. Arts is like Sky1 and Atlantic with the DOG fading.

It'll be a DOG on/off command in the automation system attached to the pres template, so could be that they're in the process of migrating to the style used on the other Sky channels where it's not permanently on. I've never really understood why Living started doing this, when of all channels you'd think Atlantic would want the permanent DOG - presumably a marketing decision.
It looks like someone in the gallery may be falling asleep - it seems to fade in and out at random, sometimes staying and sometimes not!
