I was just wondering who creates all the Sky idents, especially Sky News and the channels like Sky one. I know that Dunning Eley Jones made the Movies ones, but you don't see any of the other stuff on other sites. This probably belongs in the Requests forum but never mind.

I'm not sure about Sky One, but I think Sky News is all in-house.

As is Sky Sports.
I've got a feeling the Sky onc, tuo and thrcc, were designed in house, but rendered and produced by a graphics facility.
Skaramoosh springs to mind for some reason - but don't go looking for them on the web, they went into administration last year.

Really? I thought Skaramoosh were doing pretty well for themselves.

Not according to Broadcastnow.com on Dec 7th last year
Quote:
3D design and animation specialist Skaramoosh has closed its doors citing tough market conditions as the cause.

The company, based in Covent Garden's Neal Street, said it had entered into voluntary administration. "In view of market conditions and the position taken by the company's bankers, the directors have applied to put the company into administration," a statement said.

"The directors are currently dealing with matters such as work in progress and the administrators will consider all options available."

Skaramoosh managing director Daniel Slight added that business for smaller facilities was tough. The closure will result in 12 job losses.

Skaramoosh was set up in 1997 by Slight and Penny Holton. It posted a £1.5m turnover last year, down £600,000 on 2005-6. A restructure which included several job cuts in May this year failed to halt the company's slide

They had a couple of big contracts. Most well known were the opening titles for Strictly Come Dancing, and Masterchef Goes Large. It seems that not even that could save them.

Shame, I did like their work quite a bit.
