I just tend to round to the nearest 10 if I only know the rough placement. For example, if I wanted a BBC ONE Region or Nation but didn't know the number (which is currently the case for most as this point), I'd just punch in 970 or closest and work up from there.

Favourites is useful initially, but after a while I just want to get straight to the channel I'm after rather than cycling through a select few on blue.

Something I've never really given much thought to until yesterday, but why are certain channel numbers (such as 123) missed out on the EPG?

In theory, for spin offs and +1 channels. I believe that 123 will be taken up by "Player" very soon. (a spin off channel from Challenge's Player segment).

Well I've never really understood why S4C isn't on 117 in the rest of the UK.

It seems to be creeping there slowly 184 > 151 > 135.

I daresay no-one wants it as high as 117, and it doubtless costs more -- but it just seems easier.
