I'm I right in saying that the new EPG categories are introduced tomorrow (i.e. Religion, International, Lifestyle & Culture)?

Not exactly.

I believe the rollout is due to start this week, however some people won't receive it until the end of November.

Pace boxes tends to get the updates first, but remember it's just new categories, the real EPG reshuffle will happen a month later.

A member on DS tried a forced upgrade (hold down Back Up on the box while restarting) and has the new categories. I'm on an Amstrad so no doubt that'll be last. Rolling Eyes

To be honest, the Amstrad isn't too bad. I don't have the ticking which everyone is suffering.

At least it's better than the Pace PVR2 (with the new software at least).

I had a Pace V2. It broke after 5 months and was replaced with an Amstrad. If the Pace boxes were that good it wouldn't have broken. My Amstrad is fine (touches wood) though the last software update has made it slower to respond to button presses.

I have an Amstrad - a very good peice of kit -no problems at all.
The update has caused it to be slower to respond to the remote.. its nearly as bad as my old pace ntl box (with the recent ntl software which sped things up considerably)

What made you change from NTL Dave? (Other than the infamous customer "service"?)

Luckily I still have the old software (blue background at the top) and there's no problems (except the occasional late recording). I'm dreading this "upgrade".

I moved from Telewest if anyone's interested.

I have had no problems with ntl customer service - usualy very helpfull.
Was beta testing software for ntl just before I left thier Tv service.
Wanted a PVR and sky+ was the only option.

I beleve ntl's PVR will be good once its released - its 160gb - hd ready 3 tuners and the best news of all its roumered to not use the liberatie platform. Will be going back to ntl I think if this turns out to be good.

NTL's PVR will also use MP4 encoding - so 160GB will go further than you think. More details here...
