Noticed this morning that my SKY + Box had re-booted and with it came the Dual Record Facility.

The ability to record two channels at the same time plus watch something you have already recorded - how kewl!

Just think of all the Christmas cr** that can now be recorded !

Gavin have a look at Sky - all the information you need is there!

Once you have it installed you wonder how you managed without it Laughing

I've just got back from the states and I'm sure i read in a sunday magazine an article about a new Panasonic Tivo with recordable DVD built in. How long before it arrives here !

Just checked my Sky + and I've now got Dual Record facility, although many normal people will be clueless about it unless they actually set two things to record at the same time by mistake; there's nothing to indicate that you can now record 2 things on 2 channels at the same time.

03/12/03 Dual recording and new extra features for Sky+ users now live
Sky+ viewers are currently receiving their long awaited software update that will enable them to record two channels at once, save Live Paused programmes to their Planner and save entire programmes to disk, even if they press Record halfway through. From now on, you will be able to record up to two channels at once whilst either watching one of the recording feeds, or watching something from the Planner that has been previously recorded. Another feature of this software is that you can now save material that is "Live Paused". Whilst using the Live Pause facilty, press select and the Search and Scan banner will come up with the message "Press R to save". Pressing the Record button will dump the paused program in the Sky+ Planner. Also, if you are watching a programme, and get part way through and decide to record the programme, pressing "R" will save the entire programme to the planner, back from when you switched to that channel. The latest software version, sky+1.26.v2 also should fix some stability issues which have been affecting certain viewers. The software rollout should be complete by the end of the afternoon.

I have this update, although the error message when you try and tune to another channel whilst recording two others is less than helpful to some users: "There is no satalite signal being recieved". Whilst this makes perfect sense (both tuners in the Sky+ box are in use) some people may not realise this and think that there is a fault. I didn't even know this update had happend until I read about it here as well, so people could easily become confused.

It was about time you could save previously paused live tv, plus the other feature where when you record a program part way through, it saves it either straight from the start, or from when you first tuned over to the channel. A great improvement.

How do you get the no satellite message? I get a "you must cancel one of the 2 recordings to view this channel" type message.

Thanks, just checked, and it's there! Very Happy

After all these months... Love the way it instantly records what's in the live rewind cache.

Haven't spotted that extended EPG that was mentioned a while back.

I have rebooted my box and it now comes up with the exact same message. That's much nicer.
