I know that it's been mentioned in the Sky News Thread in the newsroom, but Sky's channels are now airing their adverts, trailers and idents in 16:9.
Presumebly all of their trailers and idents must have been made in 16:9 just for when they did switch over. It was a nice surprise for me anyway, I just thought that something dodgy was going on, until I checked of course!
Let's hope they now move the DOGs so that they are in the top left for 16:9 (as with E4) instead of using the safe areas for those "luddites" who still watch in 4:3
Let the latter have a "half" a DOG for a change instead of us having to put up with it so far from the edge of the screen!
I caught a glimpse last night and Sky Movies idents look very nice in Full 16:9 mode, and do the ones for Sky Onc and Sky Tuo, doesn't look as junk filled, a bit more space. Though I never knew Sky had made all of these idents in 16:9.
AIUI Sky Sports News doesn't have 16:9 capabilties, but as another poster said if you watch the 6th episode of
Mike Bassett: Manager
you do see a clip of Sky Sports News in 16:9 and it would work well, a bit spacious, but it would look good. Though SSN probably won't change for some time, unless they get revamped or whether the rumour of moving into the old Sky News studio, but was this denied?

I agree. Our 4:3 TV (yes, I admit it) is set to Letterbox mode so we don't miss anything out.

Really? I thought that the adverts were in 16:9 a long time ago, as they were in 14:9. The same adverts could be seen on channels like ITV1, ITV2 in 16:9.
