Hi all, as some of you may know, sky anytime plus was released earlier this week, and will be rolled out gradually. The pain for me is that I have a Thomson box which means there is going to be a lot of waiting involved till the service reaches me. My box was only fitted around 3 months ago which is strange because it is the oldest box.
My question is, do you think sky will be able to offer to change the box to an amstrad one if I rang them?

Why not phone sky up right now and complain, you being given the oldest type box going? I would be on the phone right now asking questions!

Thanks for the reply, I initially had a samsung box for around a year, but c5 and virgin 1 stopped working, so it needed replacing. Basically I got downgraded .
I'm definatley going to complain, but will leave it till tomorrow.

It's worth complaining, they'll probably fob you off with "all boxes will receive the update in the new year" though.
Hi guys, ive just been on then phone to sky for around 30 minutes arguing, and in the end the could do nothing. All the said was that my box will be updated in febuary, and that a replacement could not be sent out, although it is a problem on their half. The guy I spoke to did not even appologise for the inconvenience caused.
He said that Thomson boxes are still being manufactured alongside the samsungs, amstrads and another which I forgot. Could anyone confirm this?
It's always the case with any Digibox software updates that they're rolled out gradually across different makes and models, and it doesn't always follow that the newest boxes are the first to receive updates. It's an important part of the testing and evaluation process, and allows them to identify any bugs without the risk of causing major problems for all their subscribers at once.
I don't think you can expect Sky to replace boxes for free just because you're not the first to get new software. Imagine if everyone demanded this!
Have you considered taking your query to Jeremy Darroch? I've complained to him in the past, as have numerous others, and we got satisfying results in return. (Obviously, he won't contact you in person, it'll be one of his assistants who has power to authorise these things if customers aren't happy. Always pays to try and go above customer services.
