Also even if characters did go off to University I don't really see the problem with that as there isn't really a central location - and most episodes deal with the main characters interacting with people outside the main cast more than each other - and they can still bring the characters together with visits home and visits to each other etc.

Whilst the first was good it was largely establishing characters and their relationships, but this series has really begun to get into the psyche of the characters and as a result it's become a lot darker and deeper and has made for a very enjoyable watch.
