I don't think it's a good thing when you're effectivly promoting drug use and party lifestyles to young people. It's bad enough that we see young kids hanging around drinking, smoking and taking drugs, then we have programmes like this that are effectivly telling them it's OK to behave like this. For someone like me who's had family members f**k up their lives through drug abuse, programmes like this hardly help matters.
Neither do I but I do think it may bring it home to some at least at how they are ruining their lives.
However I do understand through you own personal experience why you dislike the programme via it's trailers. (This sentance isn't meant to sound sarcastic btw but I can't think of a better way of writing it).
Has the programmed aired at all btw?

However it does look greatly exagerated but that might be a good thing in some sense

It will be, but at a later date rather than on a "first look" arrangement.
It was actually originally commissioned for C4, but they backed out and E4 took it on instead.

Am looking forward to this new show starting on E4 on Thursday - will it also be shown on C4 too does anyone know?

Re: the whole myspace plugging thing... does it not appear to anyone else that Skins is just as much about proving how viral marketing is an oh so wonderful thing as it is a 'cutting edge' drama? As long as it gets half decent ratings on it's first showing I'd put money on there being a unbearably smug press release coming from the ad agency's office the day after.
If it takes a relentless TV campaign and CA's plugging the website at every other junction to gain internet fandom, it's not really viral in the organic sense of the term. It's just plain cynical.

They should put a banner during the trailer or a caption at the end saying"The actors didn't really smoke, take drugs or get drunk and for your own safety please do not try to imitate them."
Works with Power Rangers.I know that's aimed at toddlers[which it shouldn't be and you can parade around talking about spongebob squarepants till the cows come home] but it could work.

E4s ads haven't shut up about it. If it isn't any good, I'm going to be disappointed.

I seem to remember E4 doing that sort of thing before. Luckily they got rid of it but they seem to be making an exception for this 'Skins' thing.

I've only just turned on E4 for Big Mouth, but can anyone tell me how long the hideously long 'SKINS: 1 DAY TO GO' text under the DOG has been there? The show has to be rubbish or they wouldn't be this desperate to make us watch it.
