I want to know what the size of N6 at TVC is. Does anyone here have any clue? (Size in sq m if possible)

Because N6 is not a production studio, is owned and permanently booked by News and doesn't appear on any lists of studio facilities for hire by anyone else, details of the exact spec are not easy to find...!

Then if it's not possible to find out the size, I want to ask this question.

Is 100 sq m enough for a news studio?

100sq m is huge, so yes.

Depends what you want to do.

The studio that the Newsnight (and the Six O'Clock News) set is in is approx 3500 square feet, or approx 325 square metres. The actual set is a lot smaller than this, and is larger than needed for a straightforward big for a news show.

100 square metres should be fine for a relatively straight forward news programme - it's not huge, but not impossibly tiny either.

Of course other issues other than floor area, like ceiling height can't be ignored - as low ceilings cause massive lighting compromises. (The lower the ceiling, the more difficult to keep key lights off backings)

Yes. Breakfast, the Six, Newsnight, Andrew Marr, the Sunday Politics and NewsWatch are all TC7 regulars. HARDtalk is often but not always recorded there.

Thanks thegeek Smile Do you know why the Six is from there? I always imagined the main bulletins were in the news centre for convienience and, moreso, security. Not that where TC7 is isn't secure.

Isn't it to do with rehearsals and pre-records? If they are in TC7 they can get in there early and practise any stand up video wall sequences and the openers as well as pre-record anything they need to.

The 10 can't come from TC7 due to Newsnight which is why the News Channel has to decamp out of their studio at 9:30. I assume that the 1 o clock doesn't do that because it's lower profile and also at one point there was Working Lunch in studio 7

I may have this wrong but regarding the 1 o'clock news does it not have the same production team as the news channel whereas the 6 and 10's is different?

The Six has come from N6 at least once.
The night of the Nick Griffin Question Time, for security reasons. QT was in TC8 on that occasion.
