Here's an interesting one...who's seen SIXTV Oxford? I've just spent a week up near Witney (around the A40 between Cheltenham and Oxford; ITV region Central South, BBC Region South Today) and I was quite suprised when, flicking through channels idly one evening, that I came across a sixth channel...I cursed myself at first thinking I'd gone too far past Channel 5 (who wants to watch that anyway) but in fact I was pleasantly suprised, watching the ITN News Channel.

I managed to capture an ident, but the signal from Oxford was very weak so there was a lot of static, but it does give the general idea.

You want to see it? Well, you can't...at least, not until I get back home to Turkey on Monday Very Happy

However, I'd like someone who lives in the Oxford area to tell me what exactly SixTV is, cos all I've seen on it is regular hour-long ITN NC feeds and the odd 'What's happening in Oxford' guide...yes, it was VERY regional, but I want to know more!

Ah, SixTV... It used to be called Oxford Channel 6, but they rebranded it last year so they could run apalling ads on the back of buses that said 'Enjoyed Six recently?' and other dodgy puns! It's basically a mixture of very cheaply-made local programming (what's on guide, life in Oxford, vox pops, gardening, a day in the life of a retired person/traffic warden/lamppost etc), bought-in programming such as Gilette World of Sport (or whatever it's called), some programme about hangliders, a bit of minor local sport (not live) and hour-long simulcasts of the ITN News Channel at 7am, 9am, 12pm, 4pm, 7pm and 9pm.

It's the sort of thing you'd get on local cable, except for some reason it's on terrestrial!

Hi Folks

A sneakie peakie:

It's sometimes 'Cool' - i was bushwhacked by a young lady with a video-cam near the Oxford HQ just before Xmas 1999 and the resulting 'Address' was rolled out un-cut across a stunned Oxfordshire every hour for a few days during the Festive Season... Very Happy
